Especially if it's debilitating, you should go to the doctor. You don't want to live life like that. And if it just recently started and never happened in the past three years it means something in your body has changed, you may want to get that checked out. Maybe you can find an alternative form of birth control that won't cause you so much pain.

I had endometriosis, so I know how you feel. Aleve was the only thing that attempted to help, and it's the strongest anti inflammatory you can get OTC. Warm baths and heating pads seemed to help, but nothing ever made pain go away. I still get bad menstrual cramps, but they're manageable with these tactics. If the pain is that bad and it IS just bad menstrual crams, there are stronger RX antiinflammatories your gyno can prescribe. Mobic works AWESOME. Just a suggestion: you should ask about endometriosis. I had to go to like 9 doctors before anyone would consider that I had it because usually it's associated with middle aged women, not college aged so they don't think of it as a possibility. I also had dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea and horrible cramps that kept me home from school. Once they figured out that I had endo and I got treatment, I never had pain that bad again. Good luck.

A lot of times, your body can accept a medication and then get so used to it you have to change it.
Birth control DOES help with cramps, so there is a good chance you need to change your pill

Are your mood swings getting worse or are you losing/gaining any weight rapidly?

I'd say go to your Doc and change your pill -

Its not too big of a problem. I have some of the worst cramps in the world. I cry, throw up, throw B!#%@ fits, usually have "hershey squirts" (nasty, I know), and yell at everybody because the pain is soo unbearable. I got on the patch and it lessened them, but they never completely went away. I just take meds, try to fall asleep and when I wake up they are almost gone. I never went to school or work on the first day of my period because my cramps are just that bad. I cant even drive. Your doseage could be to low or too high. My doctor told me that my cramps are similar to pregnancy contractions, which are herendous! So just talk to your doctor.
