Why does it seem that Dems treat it as a more pressing issue than terrorism?

Yes, global warming is real. Yes, we should find ways to combat it. But which is more likely to kill us first????

Terrorists? Or global warming?

I feel you are asking a question and not making a statement.

I think it's mainly the fact that republicans seem to treat global warming as a non-issue. I think the dems are trying to make it an issue also in addition to terrorism. Can we only concentrate on one thing at a time?

Dems stay away from terrorism because it isn't an issue they have been able to win in the past. The election of 2004 is an example, the simple fact is no matter how anyone feels about republicans the simple fact is their haven't been any terrorist attacks on American soil since 9/11. Global warming is an issue dems feel they can use to improve our international credibility with Europe, etc.. Global warming to me is an issue that is impossible to solve or even address, any major cut on emissions by the U.S. needs to be matched by China and India. Having traveled to both countries the pollution there is unthinkable. Any major cut on emissions by the U.S. will cost billions of dollars and millions of jobs while those countries would continue to increase their pollution as their economies grow. Global warming is a truly long long term threat. I'm curious to see what other people think about this interesting issue.

Unfortunately you're incorrect, most Dems (or at least their politicians) make terrorism a bigger priority than global warming. This is a mistake.

On 9/11 we got caught with our pants down, and fewer than 3,000 Americans died. That's less than one-thousandth of one percent of the US population (0.001%), and you're scared of terrorism? Hurricane Katrina alone almost accounted for that many deaths.

Global warming also causes sea temperatures to rise. Higher sea surface temperatures cause stronger hurricanes which cause more damage, lost homes, and deaths.

That doesn't even take into account the fact that if we don't slow global warming soon, the Greenland Ice Sheet will melt, causing a 23 foot sea level rise and making tens of millions of Americans (not to mention the rest of the world) homless. Or the increased floods, droughts, heat waves, etc.

Terrorism pales in comparison to the threat of global warming.

The way I see it, if Terrorists get and use Nuclear, Chemical, Biological weapons, well, Global Warming really won't matter anymore. . .
It will then be more an issue of "Fallout" and "Cleanup" . . . Assuming there are enough of us left to do the cleanup.
There was a time when the citizens actually feared these things more than anything else. (See bomb-shelter)
All the evidence today shows that people really have no idea how dangerous a world they really live in. It can all change in about 20 minutes.

Because man made GW is real and terrorism is a hoax! This is all I can come up with from the liberals and their comments. Global Warming has happened plenty of times in the history of man and we made it through, even without us putting out a substantial amount of CO2 in our history. Wake up libs....Man can't do that. Have libs ever heard of an active volcano? Go stop those from erupting and then maybe we can talk!

Mr. USA - Mars has almost no atmosphere that's why it has no life to speak of from our studies of the planet. Mars, what are you gonna do...over there and preach GW prevention to the dirt?! Global Warming, natural global warming, will not deplete our water supply. What happens when you boil water? It doesn't disappear, it goes into the atmosphere, condenses into the air, eventually forming clouds and guess what happens? It rains back down to Earth.

Lmao at our troops fighting global warming. Anyway great question. Global warming is a warm fuzzy bunny they can embrace and hold onto. It's non combatant and it seems like a safe place to put there focus on. And anyway if they can stop the war against global warming the terrorist will love them. Because after all have you seen the temperatures in Iraq lately?

Whether it's "Global Warming" or a "War on Terrorism" governments need to instill fear in order to justify the majority of their existance & policies.
You need look no further than the Cold War of the last century to see the impact this type of politics has.
Not to say either threat is false, but both parties have taken a position to gain political support, nothing more, & in most cases exploit the issues to their advantages.

This new Democratic Congress has no priorities. It is stalled between two aisles and a Presidential attack. What is likely to kill us first? Another terrorist attack on our soil. An IED in Iraq because our brave soldiers are us also. A suicide bomber. Global warming is rapidly destroying the planet, or whatever you call these unusual weather changes. Just daily we lose proud men and women because of politics.
The war in Iraq should be the #1 concern. Sadly,it is not. Thank you.

Is this even a serious question? It's like asking Why is curing cancer more important to science than finding a cure for toenail fungus. Do you really think that you are going to be killed by terrorists? Where do you live? Gaza?? And how far ahead are you thinking? If you had kids, or even if you are a kid (which I suspect to be the case) you should be pretty damned worried about the next 25 years.

By the way, this is an issue that is not just a priority for the 'Dems'. ALL serious politicians around the world are trying to figure out how to reduce CO2 emissions. In fact, only (recently) Canada, Australia, and of course, the good ol' US of A are way behind on this issue. Wake up and join the rest of the world, sweetie.
