When you're playing is there a way to change their everday outfit? In the first game you just went to the dresser. Now the dresser only gives you the option of changing into formal, pj's, etc or 'planning' outfit. Which I don't really understand what that does for the sim. Usually it only shows the same outfit they're already wearing. For one of my sims it showed the outfit he was wearing and a track suit. The top part shows the different categories (pants, shirts, outfits) but nothing happens when I click on them.
I also tried the mirror where you can change their appearence but thats all facial/hairstyle stuff. I'm really hoping there's a way to change their clothes. If there is, I just can't figure it out. And I don't have the game booklet, so I can't even look it up (if it's explained in there at all).

For the dresser you have to choose outfit to change into what you want, it's not the option to change into a certain type of wear. (It confused me too at first)

If you want to buy new clothes, then you have to go to a community lot or downtown. To get new clothes in your game, you can download them off of modthesims2.com or the offical website.

There is a item on modthesims2.com, thats a coat rack that lets you buy new clothes from your own home without having to go out.

If its computer you can go downtown and buy them different outfits then when you go to the dresser you can change their outfit to the 1 you just bought!! Also if you have more then 1 girl sim then their clothes will come up when you go to change your other sims clothes Make sence?? That also goes 4 boys sims!! Also you can make it so your sim wears their formal, work out wear..... as their everyday wear!! I dk if this make sense to you!! Hope this helps!!

The manual says the mirror does it. It suggests going shopping for clothes and apparently then the new clothes are in the mirror opportunties. I'm going to try it out, but seems like I went through the same thing you did with the wardrobe furniture. The manual says "or you can design your own." Doesn't say how! There are lots of Sims fansites/forums where people answer questions. Don't forget to check out the Maxis website for exchanges and free "editor" supplements to download.
