It's just my opinion....but I beleive we probably have a tendency to be a tad on the pushy side or have an abundance of strings attached to "help" we give. I mean "globalization" has equaled McDonalds, Wal-Mart and Starbucks world wide and maybe they don't appreciate the invasion. It seems what "help" we give ends up with certain people getting 10 fold for what little they actually put in. All the big American companies have been nothing more than additional slave laborers added to the mix while probably displacing more.
If i need your help with something....it doesn't mean I want you to move in or feel free to come back when you want just because I hired you once. I can't stand favors where much, much more is expected in return as the millions of strings attached are all called in or the "favor" is thrown in your face at every turn. Many could have agreed to things not realizing what they were agreeing to since they were caught at a desperate moment and weren't able to see the consequences of those sly strings attached or how many ways they might be infringed upon in areas that weren't supposed to part of the deal.
I've talked to people from other countries and now more than ever.....they don't trust our people in power anymore than we do. Our word as a nation isn't respected anymore like it used to be. It's like they've moved the line and stepped beyond their bounds all under the guise of "better" and people are seeing it's not "better".
I love this country but I can also see how some might not think it's all so great. We live here and see aspects that have gone extreem and we don't like it either. What's good for one might be destroying what someone else values more. Our way isn't the only way and it's far from perfect.

Instead of giving you a one word answer, I'll actually answer the question... the reason the other countries are against us is not because "they are retarded" or "jealousy". Yes, we have a free country, but not everyone wants that. If you and your ancestors only know the conditions the people in Afghanistan know, then you are going to like living that way. You are not going to understand any other way. If Osama came in here and said "all right, all women must walk behind their husbands and they now have a curfew." We wouldn't be jumping the gun on his suggestions... it just makes sense.
Other countries dislike us because they view us as the real terrorists. Every country has a dark past, including us. We lost many people in Pearl Harbor, WW1, WW2, etc..... they aren't the only ones "killing their people". Religion is another reason that they dislike us. There are many reasons, but a lot of it is just because we don't understand each other.

Well it's because the American Government tries to control the world.
Who is the American Government to tell other countries what they can and can't have, or what they can and can't do?
First they try to control us American people, when "We The People", are supossed to run the Government.
Now that America has become a police state, They want to control what the whole world does, To control us isn't enough for our So Called Government. We need to put the following quote to use:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of those ends, it is the right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government..."

I think many of the answers here from Americans show exactly why so many countries don't like America. The US throws around words like 'superpower' all the time, as if they suffer from some chronic superiority complex. They impose their will on others, and many times their reasons are not noble (eg. oil... I'm just sayin'!). But in the end, like I said, the answers above highlight the main problem- Americans are an ignorant bunch who are wrapped in their own reality.

The US is arrogant especially this administration. We think that we have all of the answers and are willing to give them to everyone even though they don't ask the question.
Most of the countries are more worried about their country and solving the problems that they have. The present administration thinks that it is important to solve all of the problems with other countries and just let this country run on its own. Except for scientists that are trying to help heal our fellow countrymen.

Jealousy. When you are the most powerful nation in the world, many other countries will exhibit signs of envy. However, this is one of the few countries in the world where thousands of people risk their lives each year to come to.

They're not. The media would lead you to believe it's that way when it isn't. There are a handful of countries who do not like us, realistically less than 10. And there are over 200 countries in the world.

cant u see that many innocent people where killed during the war against afghanistan n iraq.....
the bush government showed few evidences and attacked iraq n now when the war is over.the country has gained democracy...then why the hell the US n British soldiers r still in iraq???
iraq has attainted democracy now they dont need bush to interfere in making there laws or in iraq....the bush government has got a reason behind it n that is the surplus oil in iraq....
the bush government is not only risking the lives of the civilians but also the lives of his own army....
why the hell bush is not interfering between israeil n palestine???every other day we hear that the israeil has attacked palestine or has entered in paletinian territory.many innocent people r killed n mostly children....why is bush maintaining silence????
bush is distroying peace from this world....bush government is the worst government of USA....

well for one i believe its because the USA always ends up going to other countries to "help" but its really for their own benefit, and people know that, second is that american people can be very ignorant when it comes to other nations, most people here think that they know it all and that they are the best and no matter what other people say or do, they are still the best! tends to piss people off, in other nations, when you visit someone else, you respect their country, language, culture, and you try not to show any of yours, unless you are being asked...but for americans, wherever they go its all about them, and how funny other cultures are, thus making it like they are wrong and usa is right, and mostly politics that the american people are being lied about half a dozen of times, so i hope this kinda answers your question, i have had this question a billion times, i live in the USA now, and i dont have america, i just hate ignorant people and those type of americans that say "USA should lead the world, and we are the best, NUKE them all, we are right anyhow, YEAH PATRIOTISM!" so yeah...i guess u see my point...to NUKE anyone it aint that nice and its just plain wrong...and the media somehow always ends up sending guys like that to war or puts them on the media for everyone to see...but USA is not all about that, DEFINITELY not all about that

I think it's because we are extremely misunderstood. We have absolute freedom, power, and wealth. and then you have someone like President Bush to make us all look like a bunch of idiots. They assume because he's an idiot, we all are. But I know we live in the best country in the world and anyone would live here if they had a chance.
