AFI's 100 Years 100 Movies 10th Anniversary?

Question

There were quite a few additions and subtractions since last list. Were there any that you felt were unjustly removed or should have been added.

For me, "Fargo" and "Dances With Wolves" still belong on the list.

I do not agree with them at all.

Doctor Zhivago was dropped and it was #39 10 years ago.

The searchers went from 96 to 12 and i never heard of it and i do enjoy a good western.

I don't get how films that I never heard of, and were eligible 10 years ago that didn't make it suddenly appear at high positions like the General (1927- #18), Intolerance (1916- #49), Nashville (1975- #59), Sullivan's Travels (1941- #61), and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (1966- #67). But Sophie's Choice? what is that. It looked stupid.

In all 23 films were replaced. Some good films dropped considerably. Ben-hur went down 28 spots and was placed at #100. French Connection went down 23 spots.

I can't complain about everything though. I was glad to Spartucus debut at #82. 12 Angry Men also made it at #87.

I guess you can look at everything for yourself.

While I honestly can't remember (and too lazy to look up) what was on the last list, what I look about these lists, and I think it's part of their purpose, is the two main reactions. "What? How did that get on there?" and "What? That's not on there?" It forces movie fans to get into discussions about it. I personally think The Good The Bad And The Ugly should be there, as well as Airplane, Runaway Train, and many others. But I'm a sucker for lists.

I am always surprised "Dr. Zhivago" never makes at least the top 20. Great story, music, scenery, history, acting....they don't make great epics like that anymore (without CGI)...
