My cousin(female) who I care about is getting married today. At first I was glad about it. The guy is my roommate and he is in the Air Force, so I know he will be able to support her financially. However sometimes I get upset about the way he treats her. He treats her like a maid sometimes. He tells her to do everything while he watches TV. I believe that he loves her, but I can't help but feel like I need to say something to them, but I don't think it would be good of me. Any advice?

If you feel like you should say something, then you should before it's too late. You obviously need to have peace about this. If you talk to your cousin, and she tells you that she is fine, then you have to respect it, but at least you will have a peace about it. That's kind of weird because I have a cousin that is getting married this weekend to a guy in the Air Force, and just so happens to be my roommate. Weird. However, unlike your situation I couldn't be more at peace with their marriage. Anyways, I wish you luck.

Now is not the time. Your cousin is happy and it is her day, and don't say anything to the roommate, it won't help her day at all.

My husband and I have our chores. We have worked out who does what, who pays for what and when things will get done. I have no prob. doing some of my things while he is watching tv, after all, he has to do his things while I am on the computer sometimes.

Once they are back and settled down, if your roommate says something to her or sounds too gruff, make a comment to him but keep it lighthearted, something to make him think but not start a fight. You know the whole "what you got a broken arm or something" type of thing.

Good luck to both of them and you.

If this guy was your roomie, I don't think it would hurt anything to bring it to his attention. Perhaps he is unaware of how controlling and demanding he seems. I think you should talk to him about it, the same way you stated it in your question. Just tell him that, although you do not doubt that he loves her, you feel like he occasionally takes advantage of her good nature. I don't think he'll be angry...probably just embarrassed.

Tell him now that he is marrying her he should treat her better. If he wanted a slave then those needed to be purchased, not married, back in the day.

If the wedding is today, it is too late to say anything, You should have voiced your concersn to them about this long before now. However, at the reception you can gently and somewhat jokingly say to him that she is now his wife, not his maid. It may sink in.

Cheers!

Stay out of it. as long as he isnt hitting her and she is happy to do for him, just leave well enough alone. You could lose your cousin and your friend if you interfere.

Stay out of it. She is an adult and she has chosen this man to marry. She knows how he is and has accepted his behavior, even if it seems wrong to you.

yes you need to speak up, even though he is in the armed forces, doesn't mean he can control her, that is a recipe for a disaster.
