I feel you are right that it seems that more are popping up or at least making themselves known. I think that those who have thought it was possible, shows such as these have gave them the push to believe even more. The sad part about these shows is it also brings out those who exploit the subject for personal gain which is wrong on every level. I have not had the pleasure to see any of these shows as i do not watch much TV outside of the news but have heard about them. So I am neutral to know if shows like these are a good or bad thing.

good question

The Internet has been the cause of interest in ghosts. Ghost clubs like International ghost hunter's Society, The American Ghost Society are the two largest and oldest groups that boomed with Internet and there are many smaller groups. Before the Internet people were afraid to talk about ghosts because people would think you weird or crazy.

Ghost hunting groups are real popular right now and the shows you mention may have increased the interest but the reality is these ghost hunting clubs became so popular that sparked the shows.

I think the popularity of ghost hunting is what causes people to think differently. A lot of people have always believed in ghosts, but said they did not due to fear of ridicule and the ghost clubs and shows have taken away a lot of the fear.

That is what I think anyway.

i do enjoy watching Ghost hunters it is very entertaining. I have all the seasons on DVD. It was, however, not the reason my paranormal group started. I have always had an interest in the paranormal whether it is ghost hunting looking for UFOs researching "monsters" such as big foot, etc. I have had experiences when i was younger but i have never actually seen a full bodied apparition. I started my group because I know science has not solved all the mysteries in this world and i think there is some truth in all the apparitions people see. The link to your myspace does not work, if you could, would you re post it so i can take a look...

I started ghost hunting way before I saw any of the shows on tv.
I'm 38 now and started when I was about 20 or so. Who would have thought that you can make a living out of it! I still do research and no have formed a group that investigates the paranormal. Yes I think it's a great show and love to watch it. TAPS Rocks!!!!
They look at cases like I do. Get the facts first then the stories then go for it!
Once the facts are known it is easier to unfold the haunting..

I think Ghost Hunters has really made people look at things in a different way somewhat. There have always been groups out there, but it seems like more and more are popping up. Unlike most the other shows about ghost, TAPS try to debunk things and if they can't debunk it they say that something could be up. Most shows aren't as scientific about the matter, which is why a lot of those shows are faked. I think the scientific route and TAPS actually trying to debunk things is what is changing things. My dad and boyfriend have always been skeptics, and still are for the most part, although Ghost Hunters got them starting to think a bit. So I think TAPS especially have been influential in the ghost hunting business.

I think people are more likely to admit they're interested in the paranormal now than they were 30 years ago but that there have always been people who look at it as something interesting and to be explored.

I was in New Orleans about 10 years ago and you could go on actual haunted house tours and visit haunted buildings. We actually experienced "cold spots."

I'm glad ghost hunters and others seeking paranormal activity are getting into main stream media. We have ALL either heard about, or experienced, paranormal events. They can't possibly all be total fiction. And, every culture on every continent has paranormal activity as well.

I particularly like the Ghost Hunters show because Jason and Grant and the group TRY to debunk or disprove anything they witness.

I like 'em. I like that they both had personal experiences and know the stress that can cause a family.

I think shows like that are bubble gum for the credulous. The show is not presented in an objective manner. It doesn't do a very good job of actually investigating phenomena. It's goal isn't to find the truth, but rather just to make things entertaining.

Ghost hunters have been around for years. How many ghosts have they found? ZERO. None. Not a single one.

I think some people have been convinced,
lots of people just think the shows are entertainment.

when I take them ghost hunting, and make them use the equipment,
then they all believe, what they believe in, I am not sure,
but they know that there is something big going on.

Yes it has i think, because everyone grows up hearing things about haunted houses and the like. Programs like that take us to many parts of the world that show what can manifest itself if anyone is there to capture the images and sounds.
I only wish they would focus on the reasons why they are there and how understand why they show themselves in that form.
