I just mistakingly erased a lot of of expensive programs off of my computer that I was supposed to keep for her.....can you reverse a hard drive format?

Sorry, it's a one way street. Next time, ask the geeks here first. For many here who know lots of PC solutions, reformat is only a last resort.

ahhhh yes and no depending if you did a standard format. cause once you do all the HDD's index is gone. you might be able to run a HDD recovery program on it if you have another computer to stick the HDD in to run the recovery app on. do a google search for the program

all a normal format does is erase the HDD's index. the files are still there and can be recovered. all the index does is allows the HDD to find the files. when the index is gone its like there is nothing on the drive

if you did a low level format then all will be lost cause a low level format whipes everything away

Yes, Norton makes a tool called 'Unformat'

The condition is that nothing is written to the drive before you try to unformat it.

If you formated the drive and have written to the drive before using the tool chances of recovery demish greatly.

Do a search for file recovery.

No, I'm sorry but you can't. Once the hard drive is formatted then you are basically starting over. Hopefully you still have to program software to be able to reinstall them.
