Do they have any standards of moral conduct? Or do they teach the young what is right and what is wrong?

I've been feeling as if church is just a business. My children went to a church school last year and every time they came home they had a note asking for money. When we went to chapel, it was about money too. I think the churches today are not for God but for man. I feel as if the churches teach our children how they want them to be. For some reason, I felt as if they were training my children to serve them not, God.

Churches are as individual as people are. There are some churches that have been around a long time and have a mostly elderly membership. I have found those to be uncomfortable and not very warm to new people. On the other hand, the church I go to is nondenominational, you can come as you are......people wear jeans, shorts, dresses, whatever you are comfortable in, because we are there to worship, not to impress each other with how we are dressed. I feel it is a very real place and the people are down to earth and friendly. We also have a great youth ministry. I do think that churches now are trying to focus more on young people and making it a fun place to be where they learn positive ways to get through life. You can't judge all churches clumped into one group. Each one is different, even though they preach the same basic message. I think churches have come a long way in the past 10 years or so to be more open and not as stiff and rigid. No matter how you like to worship, there is a church out there to fill your need.

i agree... churches are like businesses. but they HAVE to be because this is the world we live. ALL churches are NOT out to get your money! but it is important when you are a Christian to tithe to benefit the CHURCH and not the people of the church. If a church is really teaching about Christianity, they have standards and morals because they're guide is the Bible and the Bible teaches what is right and wrong. you can't generally say all churches do this and all do that because people are gettin money hungry and power crazy as the years go by. But i can say if a church is truly trying to do the will of God, there will be a few problems in the church cuz we're still human and not perfect, but they will teach you straight out of the Bible and act as a Christian... I can type more if you want more... but i hope i answered your question *KP*

I have been to different churches, even some of different religions. I have quit. While I was at these churches, I got to hear how pew rental was due and you couldn't have your pew if you didn't pay. I've met people who go to church every week and do everything that is taught to be wrong. I have heard kids who go to church every week, use swear words I didn't know existed! Most people tell me that as long as they go to church each week, they can do wrong and still be ok.
I think when children are smaller, they learn some values and morals, but it is lost when they get older.
This is not all church goers, but it turned me off of churches.

Most of the churches I have been to, while attempting to teach religious history, are pretty much religious robots that build themselves as social organizations to the exclusion of privilidge for those who do not belong. Others hold some truths, but escape others....and I don't have the gas money or energy to attend them. I do much better in here where we each can express our thoughts about it.

dont characterize churches in general. you have some congregations that are spiritually dead and some are alive. its like you said, some churches are nothing more than a place to be seen all dressed up. on the other hand, some churches, mine in particular, are making an effort to reach out to the lost so that they might come to Jesus and be saved. our ministry focuses mainly on children, if you can get the children comming to church, and they get saved, then they will eventually get their parents into church and its more likely that they'll bring their children to church when they're grown. hope this helps answer your question, God bless. :)

I personally do not go to church as you probably know by reading my 360. But many in fact most of the people I help do.
Yes, I feel that Churches are providing an atmosphere that families need. Also people of the same faith need to flock together.
