HI Mona - I am so sorry you are going through this. I know how difficult it is to watch someone you love destroy his life. I have a brother who is struggling with drug and alcohol addiction and it has been complete torture on his entire family.
I think it is really important for you to understand that you are completely powerless, unless he wants to get help. He is an adult, therefore you cannot force him into treatment. Chances are he will have to hit rock bottom before he will choose to get help. Pray that his bottom isn't death, because many times it is.
This is very important.......DO NOT enable him! This is the hardest thing for parents to do! No parent wants to see their child suffer, but you have to understand that you are only hurting him if you .......give him money, give him a placed to live, buy him clothes or anything else....etc....... If he is hungry and on the streets, maybe he will realize he needs help. The only time you should do ANYTHING for him is if he comes to your house and tells you he wants help to get off the drugs. Then you step up and do what you need to do!! It is the hardest thing you will ever have to do, but it will be the best thing for him in the end!
It is very sad that there are children involved, and I know that makes it even more difficult for you. Love those babies, do whatever you can to be sure they are being taken care of. They need you! Try hard to prevent them from being around their dad when he is using drugs. They don't need to see that!!
