Let us put this in basic terms. A falling barometer just tells you that the pressure is lowering. It is just a clue for someone to use, but you really need much more than a pressure trend to make a forecast. We do know that if the pressure if falling at the surface, that means the air above this point is likely to be changing from either sinking less, or changing from sinking to rising, or from rising to rising upwards even more faster. And if you have a net increase in rising air above a point and if you have enough moisture, you will increase the chance that the air will cool and start to condense. In general, if this trend continues, the chance of unsettle weather will increase. However, if the air mass is bone dry, the pressure may fall all day and no precipitation will develop.

A falling barometer means falling pressure. Actually, low pressure doesn't necessarily mean bad weather. Low pressure is kinda like a trough that can pull stuff into it. However, in many cases, it only means a change in weather (not necessarily bad). For example, high pressure usually means mostly sunny and clear skies. The air is usually drier because of the air's properties, which means it cools and heats quicker (meaning colder nights and hotter days). When the pressure drops, the air becomes more unstable, allowing a lot more clouds to form. If the low mixes with water vapor aloft, it will often rain. If it's a strong low and a high is nearby, that will cause a pressure gradient creating strong winds flowing from high to low. Keep that in mind. Only about half the time do lows bring rain or wind. I live in Texas, and low are actually usually a good thing in summer because we get more clouds, less heat, and sometimes rain.

Air flows from high pressure to lower pressure. If the barometer is high and the weather is good, a falling barometer indicates that a different weather pattern is arriving and it is often worse. High and low barometer readings are also associated with the direction that air masses revolve and the directions have become associated with good and bad weather. The lowest barometric pressures have been recorded within the eye of a hurricane (neglecting tornadoes) and that is certainly bad weather.

Storms are caused when a low pressure area moves into a higher pressure one. A barometer measures air pressure - so - when the pressure drops that means that potentially stormy weather is coming.

Falling baromewter will indicate that some low pressure area is approaching. That is all.It need not give bad weather always.Only if the pressure gradient is more and enough moisture is available, you can expect some weather.

A drop in barometric pressure usually indicates that the weather will soon become stormy. High pressure systems normally bring good weather conditions.

When a storm is coming the air pressure lowers. Actually lowered air pressure brings the storm. it is like digging an imaginary ditch right next to a lake. the pull of gravity makes it fall in.
