Sosa and Bonds should have asterisks next to their name in the record books.

I don't think he used corked bat. Umpires would know by sound but by the sould I heard, I don't think he used corked bat. He knows he would get suspended if he used corked bat so why would he use it? It was good that he hit home run from his home crowd. People would've been booing if it was on the road. He's second player to hit # 600 against his former team since Barry Bonds did it against Pirates.

Has there EVER been a bigger not care story about one of the all time great accomplishments in sports history?
When you join a list that reads:
Aaron
Bonds
Ruth
Mays
Thats INCREDIBLE. But NOBODY gives a crap, because we "know" Sosa is a cheat & liar.

The worst part is that there never will be an asterisk or any other note to these "records"; it will only be in our minds that 61, 600, & 755 mean something.

But its up to us to remeber. What happens when we're gone?

Dude, I know you think that someone like him can not accomplish such a great feat. And all the other answers I see are all just people who are just gonna always doubt people when they do something big. Sosa has never been tested positive for steroids, and that corked bat was used for a home run derby. The umps caught him, and such a big star that he is, I don't think that he would do this again. Sure its such a "coincendence" that he hit it against his old team. But guess what? THATS BASEBALL. There will always be you doubters.

Of course not. When that happened in Chicago he blamed the bat boy for giving him a bat he " only used in batting practice" to show off to the fan's because they watch batting practice to see the long ball.

With his 600 homerun bat possibly going to the Hall-of-Fame I can assure you that it is not corked. However, you do raise a good point.

I'm not sure if Sosa cheated or not. He corked his bat but who knows if he did it regulary or not. Someday we'll find out.

I highly doubt that, but you know he has always used it in the past. Even when he will be inducted to the Hall of Fame someday, there will always be a dark cloud over him. It's just too bad for the game.

Why don't you folks stop bashing these guys and enjoy the game? If they are cheating with corked bats, pine tar or performance enhancing drugs, they will eventually get busted. I believe there is enough pressure now from the government and the owners to allow peer pressure to discourage fellow players from cheating. But just as we have underage drinkers and illegal drug users, we will always have someone(s) who think they can beat the system. To answer your question, I do not think his bat was corked, especially no with Jason Marquee pitching. He is famous for giving up the long ball.
