I wouldn't go as far as saying they didn't have a heart, that is unfair in my opinion, though having said that I am beginning to wonder.
However I do believe that the majority of them only voice their opinions on here so vehemently. They can say what they want and appear to be outraged, behind the safety of their avatars.
I suspect that a lot of them have no interest whatsoever in Maddy herself, or indeed her parents, they are just wind-up merchants whom have chosen a subject that they know a lot of people will be interested in and passionate about and just post endless questions and answers designed to provoke, just for the sheer hell of it. There are also probably not as many of them as it would appear, there are people on here who have multiple accounts.
Worringly, it is probably just bored students who have nothing better to do than use the dreadful plight of a family whom have lost their little one to provoke a fierce debate that they can just keep going and going for their own entertainment, so very, very sad.

Hi Lou Lou, Don't think that the majority of people really slate the Mccanns, they slate what they have done, and the way they live their lives and raise children - viz: leaving wee mites alone and unsupervised while they were out enjoying themselves, where the presence of small ones may have cramped their style. They have a totally different social outlook which is in contradiction to the norm of most people. They will not even consider that what they have done is wrong in the eyes of most people, but I cannot begin to see that what they did could be right. The people that complain about the McCann family have big hearts ( mostly except fo a few weirdo's) and they are full of concern that this family's attitude may set a president for others on holiday just dumping their kids if they want to socialise in an adult environment. If they had not realised the child was missing at 22:00 hours(?) what time would they have eventually gone back to the hotel? Sawney Bean's family was very close too, and did not follow the mores of mainstream society!

A personal policy I have is 'Only say things about people that you would happily say if they were standing in front of you.'
This applies equally to Yahoo Answers, my friends AND THE McCANNS THEMSELVES if they were standing in front of me.
- Its unacceptable to leave kids they way they did.
- Its unfair all the special treatment they are getting (pro press coverage, jets, audiences with the Pope, thousands of pound being given to them) when their are kids disappearing EVERY DAY and you do not get to hear about them.
- Unfair the way they have left the other kids to go jetting here, there and everywhere.
- I'm a bit concerned about this massive fund they have, as when you read the aims, it is open for abuse.
- There should be, at the very least, an enquiry of some kind as to WHY this situation happened in the first place. Now I'm not sure if that would be legal or vis social services.
- Why are they too calm? Gerry's BLOG reads more like general diary than someone who has just lost his daughter.
I am not 'heartless' ALL the people who 'slate' the McCanns say that they want her to be found safe and well. But there are a lot of things with this case that do not seem right, and that's what people have picked up on.

people are allowed to be critical as the mccanns have been very public with their campaign which outs them in the spotlight and under a public microscope so as long as people stick to the facts and dont make jokes it is fair enough its the people who make up fantasy scenarios and make jokes that spoil it
i personally pity the mccanns very much and hope to god they get their daughter back but i do hope if they do they will take a good look at what they did in leaving three vulnerable children alone but now is not the time for harsh words and criticism their little girl could be dead after all

we've got the same name!!!!! well, i think some people have very valid points, and get slated for asking or making them, and others are just trying to be a bit more light hearted pehaps. it's not that they don't care. everyone obviously cares about the little girl, but on occasion perhaps the father has acted in a way that could be deemed odd by some..

Bit boring now really, something else will turn up soon enough for people to moan about. The McCan story is ripe for mud-slinging though, it's not surprising that it goes on... but a bit surprising that it's still going on. If they're still in the press, they must expect some negative reactions. I wouldn't say that the people criticising them are heartless... but I would say that it's a bit fruitless... the child will not be found now, the family will soon have to stop it's high profile press appearences... it's time for everyone to move on, there's nothing more to see here.

Whether it's in public or on Yahoo Answers my answers will always be the same. They should be charged for child neglect instead of putting them on a throne. If this was done to your child, i'm sure you would be dancing to a different tune.
The message you are sending to the members here and public is that it is fine to leave kids under 4 unattended, an open apartment and asleep while you and the husband go off with friends and get drunk like fishes. This is not acceptable, everyone who has kids has a responsibility to that child/children. They did not ask to come here, bear that in mind.

What, they don't have a heart because they disagree with child neglect?
They don't have a heart because they disagree that raising fund money seems more important to Madeleine's parents than actually finding Madeleine?
That they are horrified at Madeleine's disappearance and all the McCanns seem to be concerned about is that they are not to blame?
I feel great sympathy for anyone who has lost a child through any circumstance - but the McCanns behaviour is odd and questionable, and, just because they have "lost" their daughter does not mean that they are above the law and that they should not answer the questions that anyone else would have to answer in the same situation.

The McCann's did something that no parents i know would do in a foreign country. Since then they have been sent at tax payers expense around Europe and Africa on religious grounds. I don't agree that helps either!

I think there are two different kinds of people who dislike the McCann's - there are those who dislike what they have done in leaving the children alone and are concerned about Madeline, and then there are those who are abusive and offensive in their comments regarding the McCann family.
In my opinion, one is tending to blur with another - and many people on here ask pointless questions (Dave S for example - many valid points made but also some pathetic questions aimed at Gerry McCann) which ruins their point and makes them look so stupid.
When exactly did these people decide to focus on Gerry and Kate McCann and not Madeline?

Publicly the parents say they did nothing wrong in leaving them but privately I should imagine that will forever regret that decision. They should have the honesty to admit publicly it was a terrible decision and gave someone the opportunity to take her from them.
Of course the other alternative is she got up and left apartment by herself and was picked up. How would they know - they couldn't even see the apartment from where they were sitting?
