a shield appears in my icon tray and flashes when i right click it it opens in an internet exporer site?

i only use fire fox the site is for a spyware program call spyware crusher i deleted the program but this alert is still there and when I right click it to delete it it opens into a web site for the spyware but as an internet explorer site what can i do? I also keep getting alerts for spyware programs

i had this virus before, dont click on it! what happened to me was that when i clicked on it, it brought up those spyware sites, then it redirected itself to another page and started downloading a load of stuff, i just turned off my pc lol. its a virus that the spyware company sent out so that you would buy the spyware, making them money, its a scam, deleting it wont do the trick as it is in the registry and it will install itself again when you restart, just try to find every single file to do with it, and get rid of it

You may want to try Microsofts Defender program.

I found it cleared several entries that other spyware just didn't catch.

They also have a malicious software removal tool

Which tends to get rid of several other pesky items.

Funny that they have these, since they are the same company that just can't seem to get a safe browser working!

However, these do seem to work well at getting rid of what they let get into your system in the first place.
