Tampons or no swimming.

Buy the slenderest tampon, I think they are Playtex sport or compaq, something like that.

Relax when you try to put it in, use a mirror if you have to.

Read the instructions on the box.

Which does your mom use? If she uses tampons she'd be more likely to understand. Even if you dont want to tell her, you dont need your mom to buy your tampons, you can go to the supermarket or wherever and buy them yourself. Buy the smallest size as these would be the easiest to use for you. There are instructions and tips on the leaflet on the inside of the box. The main thing to remember is to relax and just take your time putting it in. it should last a couple of hours, but you can always go to the toilets and change it. Practice using them today so you can get the technique right and work out how long they'll last! Good luck!

Sweetie the only way is a tampon....I use them and love them! THey are very comfortable, the only part where it might bother is at the very beginning of inserting it....but it does not hurt and it won't bother after that. The only brand i recommend is Tampax Pearl...the outside part is not cardboard but plastic making it better for when u insert it. Also, make sure to change tampons every 3-4 hours. Dont leave it in for too long since it can be damaging and also since your period might be heavy it can get all drenched and go through your clothes after a few hours. When you buy it just read the instructions...it tells u all this i'm saying and how to put it in.!

It would be very unsanitary if you went in the water on your period, b/c people will be in the same water as you and you WILL still bleed some, it doesnt just automatically stop. You need to talk to your mom about tampons thats the only way to be safe and not bleed out in the water, and they are not hard to use, and I'm sure your mom will understand.
Don't be scared to use them, they are fine and you will like them more than pads...just be sure to change it regularly!

even though your period stops when you get in the water, the only thing that will really work in water is a tampon, their really easy to use, and once you try them, you'll never go back to pads again.

You have to use tampon. If you have heavy period, it will soak up pretty quickly so you have to change it every half an hour or less. If you are not sure of wearing them then its best not to swim. If you swim in the pool, you don't want to risk bleeding in the water.
