The Mayan calendar is set to run out on the winter solstice in 2012. This is said to have long been the day of the apocolypse. The Mayans had an unbelievable intelligence of the universe and time (with their calendar being more exact and accurate than our current one). Personally I don't believe in it, but it still interesting to think about especially on December 20, 2012. What do you think of it?

The Mayan Calendar is very interesting because it also counts back to the first day of Creation in Mayan terms.

But no, I don't believe the Mayans know the date of the end of the World more than anyone else does.

I think it is interesting that they chose the Winter Solstice as the date of the universe's demise. It shows the bias they had about timing as being related to seasonal changes observable through study of the heavenly bodies.

Time was obviously very important to them, with solar, lunar, and venutian calendars. And I think there is an implied hypothesis here that they were fearful of nature and that careful of study of the stars might give them ascendancy over time. It certainly gave the religious class ascendancy over the society.

But even Christ Jesus said that of the hour and day of His return and the righting of all things, only the Father knew.
As a Christian, then, I believe that I cannot know the precise day or time of the coming judgment of the World.

I think it extremely unlikely that the world would come to an end. I'm certain it means the start of another cycle in both events & human consciousness. The calendar had various shorter divisions, & the one for the 60's, for example, was surprisingly accurate. It is worded so that it easily covers assasinations and corruption in government. Much has been said about the Age of Aquarius. You can't find agreement as to when it started. Remember all the buzz about 2000, the 2K scare? Do some research, you'll be amazed with the Aztec calendar.

Modern prophecy says the Earth will shift on it's axis, (it's spin). The Ice Caps were actually cooling and got bigger and heavier, which caused the Earth to tilt. That is fact.
I imagine this has created the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions we are experiencing. Due to the Earth being off balance, and it's spin.
This is shooting tons of ash and hot gases into the atmosphere, rapidly melting the Ice Caps. Which will undoubtedly result in a sudden and dramatic shift, as the Earth returns to it's Natural spin.
I feel this will occur in 2012, or thereabout. (Isaiah 24. The 5th Seal in Revelation). This will cause Worldwide disasters. Aftershocks, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis. It is just a natural change, and there will be spiritual, multi-dimensional repercussions. (Note Isaiah 24:18). It will open the doors to other realites. We will see things we don't want to see. And humanity will undoubtedly make it 10 times worse than it has to be, with it's immaturity and silliness.
Best to prepare yourself physically, psychologically, and spiritually.

The date in Mayan predictions does no longer mean the 'end of the international', however the top of a cycle. An end implies a beginning up, and that's only what it relatively is. the hot cycle will convey back an historic expertise. this records is greater historic than any previous so observed as discovery. It bargains with a lost continent and the understanding that grow to be despatched to the 7 historic centers of the international while the continent sank in what's now the Pacific Ocean. earlier Atlantis. earlier recorded history. it is going to return in its purity and not as watered down with the aid of the racial conciousness of people who won the unique works.

I don't know, sounds intresting...I believe I've heard something like that before, can't remember if this was it though. But, ya know, it really makes ya wonder, if they picked that date they must have had a reason for it. But I doubt the world will end anytime soon. The only way I think that can happen is if George W. Bush Gets elected again by some odd power, but thats my two cents. :)

I'll just have to remember not to buy any christmas presents that year. ;)

No, I don't. There was a "psychic" named Jeanne Dixon who predicted that the world would end on a certain date in 1969.
We're still here. It was also predicted that all heck would break loose on January 1, 2000. It didn't happen. I think it's a bunch of baloney.

I saw this on the Discovery Channel, or maybe the History Channel. It was very interesting. But they said, it was not really a complete ending, only the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another. Now the question is, will people survive and be a part of the next cycle?

But the concern would be that the Mayans identified the end of the world better than God did.

I heard that planet X is supposed to cause a pole turn of the Earth next year, there are so many "End of World" theories that we won't know the truth til it happens.
