The only product I heard of that is safe and deet free is Avon's Skin so soft bug guard plus sunscreen lotion spf 30. No harsh chemicals and many baby and parenting sites suggest this product. It is on sale right now too. Never tried it, but couldn't hurt to give it a shot.
I also heard that a dryer sheet repels mosquitos. Just stick one in the baby's pocket or clothing somewhere.

They make bug spray specifically for small children. Avon makes one that has no harsh chemicals. Also, just go to Walmart and look at their bug spray. They usually have it in with the children's sunscreen. You can also get sunscreen for babies that has insect repellant in it. I would avoide putting on the babies hands and also around their mouth and eyes. Putting on their arms and legs is just fine as long as the kind you use is intended for babies.

This link says this product is for 3 months and up. They are towels you wipe on baby.

There are others. Google it and you will find some good products.

I know for a fact that they do sell it. I live in the Eastcoast of the US, so I remember going to the stores: Target, Walmart, and the Chistmas Tree Store. I'm sure you can find a Walmart or Target.

We use to pick up a spray but quickly found that to be a pain. They now sell a roll on stick, like the baby sunscreen, and it will make your job a whole lot easier.

If you want something for the baby that is very safe: http://www.mountainbaby.com/item.php/kids_natural_mosquito_spray.html?gclid=CJPhuq6Y7YwCFRJwZQod9mHt7w

Best of luck !

When you say "bug spray" I think of two types.

I assume you're not talking about bug killer like RAID, Hot Shot, etc. (Not trying to be funny... I've seen worse on here.) If you DO mean this kind, the answer is NO and you should surrender your kid to social services!

If you mean insect repellent like "Off" to keep away mosquitoes then no, don't use it on babies. I don't have a can right now, but I think it says not to use on small kids. They have a tendency to put things in their mouths, so if they are wearing "Off" they'll consume it. (DEET, the active ingredient is supposed to be "safe" but definitely not for consumption.)

no..the chemicals are much too harsh...and toxic.
those chemicals are absorbed by the skin & get into the bloodstream.
so technically it's putting poison on one's skin.
i don't know how they allow that to even be sold.
i never have used those products..and if anyone read the warning on the back of those sprays no one else would either.

Not a good idea. Everything that they touch goes into their mouth, so you may feel sure that somehow, someway, the bug spray will get into his mouth.

I don't know of any that you can use that young, but if the situation allows, you could try mosquito netting.
