Never landed on the moon. It was filmed in a studio. If we have landed on the moon how come we have never gone back and every mission to the moon so far has failed.....for example Apollo 13 never made it and the challenger blew up. If we had the technology as we supposedly did back in 1969 to go to the moon.....you would think that we would already have an established a base there and would be sending people to the moon and not living in a international space station. But beside that you would think if we went to the moon we would have already sent people beyond the moon already...because a lot of the technology has change since 1969 making it possible to go further.

This question has been asked many times in the past, and I realize the asker is probably unaware of this fact. So, I will answer the question as best I can.

Asker:

Yes, we have landed on the Moon. The first was Apollo 11 in 1969. NASA also went back 5 more times in subsequent years ending in the mid 70's. Three further Moon missions were scheduled, but were scrapped due to lack of funding.

The video from the Apollo 11 mission does show what seems to be a waving US flag. However, if you look closely at the top of the flag you will see a telescoping rod that is holding the flag out. The "waving" motion is created by the astronauts as they try to plant the flag in the ground.

Think about how you might place a pole into the ground here on Earth. You would twist it back and forth to grind it into the ground. This is exactly what causes the flag to wave about. When the astronaut releases it, it continues to wave around for a very short time but then comes to rest. This is due to the fact that there is no atmosphere on the Moon so there is no resistance to the flags motion except for the friction between the telescoping rod and the pole. All of the energy put into the motion of the flag due to the astronaut's twisting must be dispelled before the flag's motion will stop. This is a prime example of Newton's Laws of Motion including that an object put in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by an equal and opposite force.

As for some of the other things you may have heard that may lead you to believe that the Moon landings did not happen I ask you to visit the site http://www.badastronomy.com. This site addresses most all of the Moon hoax "evidence" and explains, in a scientific way, why what may seem to be wrong is actually right.

The biggest thing you must understand is that things do not behave in space and on other worlds (ie the Moon) as they do here on Earth.

We are headed back to the Moon provided the funding is there. NASA and its contractors (one of which I work for) are developing Ares I and Ares V. These rockets will replace the Space Shuttle as the primary human-rated launch vehicles for the US space program. They will also give us the capability of returning to the Moon, which we expect to do no later than 2020. When those pictures from the Moon are beamed back in HD, I hope that you will see all of this Moon Hoax nonsense is just hot air.

It is true that you should always question what you don't understand, but always strive for the facts and not just what appeals to your sensibilities or the easy answer.

I really didn't want to weigh in on this, because the stupidity on display was giving me an intense headache right behind the eye....but:

> have u seen the photograph of this thing? in the photo they have shown that flag is waving.

I would imagine, it being a photograph, that nothing in the picture would be moving at all.

>If we have landed on the moon how come we have never gone back and every mission to the moon so far has failed......for example Apollo 13 never made it and the challenger blew up.

'We' (i.e. NASA) did go back - several times in fact. They stopped going back when it was no longer economically viable to do so and had learned all they needed to at such expense. Yes, Apollo 13 didn't make it - the one Apollo mission that failed (other than Apollo1, but that never left the ground). Challenger wasn't on it's way to the moon ... no runway for it to land on and all ...

>Certain people went to the NASA and ask some astronauts there or few astonauts that had landed on the moon. No one dared to answer the intriguing question.

I think it's more like nobody WANTED to answer such a STUPID question!

And as for the flag waving comments - if somebody can provide a link to a video clip of the flag moving, where it is not painstakingly obvious that any motion of the flag is caused by the astronauts moving the flag and subsequent micro-gravity causing it to take longer to stop moving, then I will well and truly eat my foot.

Oh my my, it is sad to read this website. First, there is little tolerance shown for differing views (are the young as much afflicted with prejudice as the old?); furthermore, many of the responses are opinionated (in my opinion!) without a great deal of actual scientific knowledge. Second, the poor degree of grammatical syntax and writing is atrocious (very bad). Where do these people learn English? I do not mean omitting upper caps in this format for convenience's sake but, please, can you not all try a little harder? It is a sight for sore eyes.
Concerning the question whether NASA sent astronauts to the moon, I have read and heard some disturbing things about this event and am not sure that I believe in the actual moon landing. Why have they never returned there since then? Just a questions.

Dude - i like a competent conspiracy extra advantageous than every person, nonetheless those factors you reported don`t carry. I observed distinctive arguments to yours, and specific- it sounds very unusual, yet there is gravity on the moon- one eights or something of that of the earth so the **** nonetheless drops. it could`t be that chilly on the moon to wish lots lead- lead is extremely like the worst for retaining heat there is. This crap will freeze you. so which you recommend the radiation- I heard that earth is surrounded with the help of particularly deadly radiation belt. nonetheless- why might each and every of the scientists might bull **** at as quickly as that it doesn`t exist? To get some money? First missions frequently fail and confident- there have been hundreds of valuable moon missions. And confident- there are many of the interviews with the astronauts and a few of them talk of seeing UFOs. you may`t see the celebs because of the fact the ssurfaceis nonetheless very lit up with the help of the sunlight- it`s like seeing the celebs interior the sunlight hours. Flag is basically reacting on the commotion- it probable takes 8 cases the time on the moon. so a protracted way I choose the argument approximately displaying the finger to the Soviets. And confident- the section fifty one is probable a **** secret protection tension base , the place they fly particularly some issues. To sum all of it upp- confident some weird and wonderful **** is going on! Watch zeitgeist action picture and combat the flexibility.

Yes, NASA did land on the moon. No, the flag didn't "wave" with any wind, it just resisted movement (momentum) from the unsteady hand of the astronaut, and was held up by a horizontal rod so we could see it well in the captured images of the moon walk.

The Moon Base Clavius organization debunks the Moon Hoax Conspiracy theory well (see link below).

the flag never moves. but NASA when to the moon first in 1969. we beat the Soivets (Russians). if you saw some documentary of landing on the moon, it is just a renactment. and for the one person above me, we went tho the moon a number of more times and you only hear the screwups of NASA on the news. the news never really has good news. and you claim the technology is the problem?! my DAD works with building those shuttles and ships and rockets! AND ROVERS! IF OUR TECHNOLOGY ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH, HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN GOING TO MARS WITH ROVERS?!!!! we went to the moon firt on Apollo 11 in 1969 (with Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin). Apollo 12 was launched on November 12, 1969 and had created the first artificial moonquake (Commander Charles P."Pete" Conrad JR, Alan L. Bean, and Richard F. Gordon). Apollo 13 exploded in the second oxygen tank causing the first to lose oxygen and it eventually lost ALOT of power. it was launched in 1970 (James A. Lovell JR, John L. Swigert JR, Fred W. Haise JR). THEY ALL RETURED SAFLEY!!!!! Apollo 14 is where they collected the first lunar samples (moon rocks) and brought tem back to earth (Alan B. Shepard JR, Edgar D. Mitchell, Stuart A. Roosa). Apollo 15, 16, and 17 were cancelled and rescedualed for later after the scare o Apollo 13. i won't talk abou them all but there were 20 Apollo Missions. There were the Gemini Projects too. the challenger blew up and then we set our sights on Mars.

hey, questionair! you also spelled "just" like: "jsut"........+('=')+

Rachelle B and Mark C are "full of it".

I was there. I saw launches. I went to the university campus where we set up a directional antenna system and determined for ourselves that the freakin' radio signals from the astronauts could not come from anyplace but the freakin' Moon.

These adolescent pup-wads that read some BS from a hoaxster and then parade around like they "know something" are the best argument against the presence of intelligent life on this planet. They wouldn't know the truth if it walked up to them and bit them on the keister.

Oh for crying out loud. The flag is NOT moving, it is held out by a rod sewn along the top precisely because it won't wave in the vacuum. The ONLY time the flag moves is if an astronaut moves it.

The Moon landings were real. Go and look at the real record, not some rubbishy conspiracy site.

Yes they landed on the moon, no that flag is not waving, it is merely wrinkled and supported by a rod, but perfectly still.

Many films have been made in and around Las Vegas, but not those transmitted from the surface of the moon.
