I seem tohave the best luck when I cut just above the next leaves below the spent rose. Usually new buds right away. If not happening, next time you can re-cut that stem. Good Luck

If you want more blossoms now, be sure to remove the spent flowers. You can just clip them off below the blossom. To prune your roses for the next season, cut back any branches that are too long to a length that you prefer; also be sure to cut away any canes that are growing toward the center of the rose bush, rathern than toward the outside.

My grandmother always told me to cut just above a joint on the stem of a rose. If you'll notice the stem has sections something maybe like a bamboo stalk. Just cut above one and thats where new stems will develope. That's the way I do mine cause I always listen to my grandmother. Good luck with your roses!!!!

Wow, I learned something new here.
Actually, I didn't know that there was a specific way to cut roses.
I just cut them, and three days later I get new ones.
