Hi Satya, i think the same laws apply to employees of the company as would apply to a person in public who stole the identity of another person.
Identity fraud is a huge problem in Austrlalia and US and i think the rest of the world. It costs Billions each year.
The punishments are getting very big too. They could expect a jail sentence if caught.
It has been my problem too, to think of this, there is so many companies out there with all of your information which could possibly be used to open false bank accounts etc. Youv'e just got to trust the privacy policies that exist and the company to regularly check employees and systems to make sure no breaches have occurred.
Try not to worry about it, theres not much we can do about it. Ps check the first answer, thats where you'de go for the legal side of it.
Good luck.

The actual law that is used depends on what is done with the information, and the type of information that is stolen. I suggest that you look into "Trade Secrets", as this is mainly what corporations wish to protect. Also, check into basic Identity Theft. Look both at your State laws and Federal laws. Title 18 of the US Code is where I would start looking.
