The upper cable attaches with a clip at the speedo and a threaded nut at the cruise unit. The lower cable has a threaded nut at both ends. A one piece cable is used without cruise control.

The original was two piece for ease of assembly top from the instrument cluster and bottom from the tail shaft of the transmission joined at about the left brake booster. Replacemant may be one piece and 6 feet long get it in the clips properly because exhaust will melt the covering of the cable. Bottom cable has a knurled round end piece female trans side and male threaded end gray metal both ends. Top either snaps on the back of the spedo with plastic round squeeze clip and knurled round end that threads onto the lower cable when in doubt buy both cables but do not install them until you know the spedometer turns. Insert a square end of the old cable into the spedo and spin it between your fingers. I have seen spedo lock up and twist off the cable in the transmission. ANd when reinstalling make sure the pieces of the old cable are gone.

its just what it says, the cable is in two pieces a upper and a lower, the upper attaches to the speedo, and goes through the fire wall. and the lower connects to the upper and runs down to the tranny.
