No. Artists portray Adam this way because they secretly suspect that the patriarchal narrative of Genesis 1-2 is only a late Levite priestly revision of the original creation myth in which Adam is born of the Earth (made from dust in one of the two Genesis accounts of human creation)--of the Earth Mother, that is. Adam is shown with a navel by so many artists as an implicit profession of faith in the Motherhood of Divinity, rather than the male parthenogenesis account of Genesis.
Also, the navel is an important part of an idealized male nude, and Adam & Eve portraiture offers a chance to do idealized male and female nudes in a religiously themed painting...

I am not in favour of pictorial representations of figure of religion text. But I can, however, understand that both pictorial and engraved portrayal of Adam may only be for the purpose that all human being may relate to him, instead of seeing him as some one born without a mother and father. Besides, who knows exactly what Adam and Eve actually looked like? This nevertheless is an interesting point you made.
I personally believe that Darwinian theory of evolution is correct explainantion of how humans evolved on the face of the Earth. But the question still remains – what caused the emergence of consciousness in the form of human mind?
There is general nature of all things, including animals and plants, and then there is human nature, which is progressively – progressively, at least in our own view – different from anything else in the world around us. Human nature depends upon the general nature, as we need to have a physical existence. We grow like animals and plants. We have similar physical needs, and in some regards we are very much like animals, but unlike animals and plants we think, speculate and anticipate and make choices along the course of living. We seek to better ourselves everyday. And this is what is unique and intriguing about human nature. This always makes me think - what exactly is a man?

The point of cleaning the arm is because sometimes at the last mintute they might decide to revive the person. Does it mean that God, just in case, wanted to make sure that he could kill us after creating us? A navel is the sign that there was someone else who created, rather than something creating themselves. After all, The Bible and its associated artworks are ultimatley just metaphorical in nature.
