Other than the obvious reasons (even blockbuster movies are all released in the summer, to take advantage of kids being out of school), there is also the fact that they are released on Harry's fictional birthday in July.

Probably because most people have vacation time during the summer so that's when they have the most time to read the books. From what I've seen, with the size of those books, readers need all the time they can get!

There is more time to read during the relaxing period of summer. Maybe she just finishes the books close enough to the summer, so that is an appropriate time to release them.

So that kids won't cut school to read the books, stay up too late reading the books, and devote at least a week of school-time obsessing, reading, and then grieving the book.
July 21!

You would have to ask her publisher, but I am assuming its to promote reading during summer vacation. The US editons are published by Scholastic, which alot of schools use for their book clubs.

cause in the summer it's hot=>you stay in=>you read, rather than watch tv....although, come to think about it....you would read it with the same interest in winter, or fall, or spring for that matter...maybe it's just a writer's superstition:P
