he won't pull it out while its absessed you have to take antibiotics until the absess goes away also if the cheek swelling is real bad he might put in tubes to drain your cheeks (that's what they did for me)

Usually the dentist gives you an antibiotic first to get rid of the infection before he will pull it out. My understanding is that Novocain won't work with an infection and antibiotics so that is why the infection has to be cleared up before the tooth is pulled. I would think if you are already on med. he would pull it and the swelling should go down. Also if you are just on medication it should go down by Monday. Please take all of you medication for the infection. I know a 22 year old that had an abscessed tooth that led to an infection in his heart and died.

You can certainly have this done while pregnant. Just tell the oral surgeon that you are pregnant and they will use a different local anesthetic. They will likely use carbocaine because it has no epinephrine (like adrenalin which helps the anesthetic to work); epinephrine will greatly increase your heart-rate and likely your baby's as well, but the surgeon will know this. Also, it is VERY important that you get this taken care of asap because an abscess is an infection that is filled with bacteria that can get into your bloodstream and make you and the baby sick. Try not to worry too much hun, you'll be fine! * you may need more local anesthetic because you are swollen (likely) from the abcsess. When tissue is swollen, the pH changes and makes the local anesthetic less effective; thus you may need more of it.

I seriously doubt if he/she will pull it if it is abcessed. You will most likely be put on antibiotics for a week or ten days to rid your body of infection, then they will schedule it to be pulled. It is very dangerous to pull an abcessed tooth.

most dentist don't pull your teeth when they are abscessed because it can send the infection through your body they generally give you antibiotics until the infection is gone then refer you to an oral surgeon
