your gums are receding, comes with getting older and/or brushing your teeth too hard...try a gentle toothpaste or baking soda (yes, baking soda...a little in your palm, size of a half-dollar, rub your toothbrush into it then brush) and a soft toothbrush. Also, try and watch just how hard you are brushing, paying attention to the amount of pressure will help your gums eventually.

Sounds like gum disease. You have to take her to the dentist asap. Are her teeth loose also? There is nothing on the market that can cure gum disease because plaque at the gum line needs to removed with professional tools. You'll need to go to a hygienist and she can suggest several treatments, depends on how far the disease has progressed. But don't wait, book the appointment, it'll only get worse. In the meantime, you can use a salt water rinse to ease some of the discomfort. About a tablespoon is a large glass of water. Rinse after every meal and of course, floss and brush gently until the appt. Good luck!

Bleeding is a sign of inflammation/irritation due to bacteria you missed while flossing usually. Since most people do not floss daily, they usually have bleeding gums or if you have any crowns they often cause some irritation to the gums causing frequent bleeding. Adding a rinse like hydrogen peroxide should help bubble down into the gums and kill of that extra bacteria. If you are having severe bleeding it could be anemia.

You may notice that your gums bleed during brushing, this is caused by brushing too hard, or you may have toothbrush that have hard bristles. Change your toothbrush that has soft bristles that will not harm your gums. Aside from that, bleeding gums are the silent ,early symptoms of gum disease. The early signs and symptoms may not cause pain or any irritation, but watch out for you are already attacked by the silent but destructive disease. Preventions should be taken seriously as well as practicing proper oral hygiene will be a big help in preventing this disease to progress. it is also good to seek advice from the experts like clicking this link http://themouthdoctor.com and check out the latest treatments.

Poor diet can be one reason or medication. I have it occasionally when my diet is not good. Plus I am on 3 medications for an illness and that is listed as a side effect.
about ten months ago I went on a Major Vitamin supplement program to improve my health. In three months I noticed a LOT of difference. And continue to feel much better. Even a really good Multi Vitamin morning and night to boost your vitamin health might help. After about a month once your get your system boosted you could go back to one a day.
I take the multivitamin, Acidophiles, C, B complex, D, E, Ginko Biloba, Iron, Niacin, Co Q 10, MSN, magnesium.
Good Luck.

Bleeding gums that does not accompany pain is a symptom of gum disease, perhaps gingivitis. You have to get a dentist's appointment and have your teeth and gums cleaned. Disregarding such symptoms may lead to more serious gum problems.Get more information about it on http://www.oramd.com .

Greetings, Raja G! The best thing to do is to consult a physician. Don't take any advice on-line or from this forum.
I am almost 60 and it happens to me every time I brush my teeth due to the capillary sensitivity caused by the aspirin I take daily. This problem can be caused by various factors, most can be benign but it is better to be certain.

This is usually called gindivitis (probably spelt wrong).
This can be cured by flossing daily and a mouthrinse - you get in sachets from the chemist.
I have periodonitis which is serious gum disease. This is from never flossy!!!

just brush your teeth gently
maybe it bleed because you used to brush them roughly so the gum sinks (i mean, the gum became less attached to the teeth).
