different speakers for that?

Becuase I have a Samsung DVD player at home and it says on the back the back "audio out" which I think means speakers can be attached to it.

Portable speakers are usually of very poor quality. Although you could indeed plug them into your DVD, it's unlikely that they will be better quality than your TV speakers.

A better (though more expensive) solution would be to buy a proper surround sound system.

The 'audio out' sockets are for connection to an a/v (audio visual) amplifier. You then connect the amp to a set of speakers.

As mentioned above, portable PC speakers have a truly atrocious sound - it will be like listening to the film down a drainpipe.
