Death and the After life?

Question

Ive been reading my Bible and it from what I understand when Christ returns the dead will come back to life? Is that correct?

If that is true, then our souls must remain here on earth until the coming of the Lord?

So if we die we dont go up to heaven just yet? We have to wait for Jesus's return and then will we be judged?

Is that why John Edwards can speak to the dead?

There must be alot of spirits around if that is the case...

Im just asking for your interpretation and thoughts?

Your first couple questions are absolutly correct. The Bible tells us the dead know nothing. It describes death as asleep. When we die we stay that way until the second coming of Christ. Then he will first raise all the righteous dead, they will be immediatly transformed, and taken to heaven.

Body + Breath = Living Soul
Living Soul - Breath = Death

The Bible says that soul or spirit is our breath only.

Revelation 22:12 says, "And, behold I come quickly and my reward is with me to give every man accorcing to his work shall be." Our reward of course is eternal life in heaven. So if God is going to come and reward us when He comes than that means that we will have to have been judged prior to his coming. The dead will not be raised then judged. He will complete His judgement of the dead, then of the living before He comes. Therefore, it would be prudent for each of us to be ready and to prepare our hearts now. "For we know not the hour in which the Son of man cometh."

John Edwards is a fake. Remember the dead know nothing so how can he really speak to them. The Bible tells us that the devil is the great deceiver and has great power. He can transform himself along with his angels into anyone or anything he chooses. These spirits John talks to are not our loved ones but it is the devil himself, discuised as a loved one. The Bible warns us of such things and that they are evil. Anyone claiming to have seen any form of ghost or a past loved one is seeing the devil before there very eyes.

Revelation 16:14, "For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty."

2 Thessalonians 2:9, "Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders."

There are many texts describing the state of the dead. I will list some of them here. There are too many to type out now. Feel free to open up your Bible and study them.

The Bible states very clearly the condition of the dead, that is they are in a state of unconsciousness (like in a long sleep without wakening). They don't have any ability to speak, think, or talk with anyone and anything.
When Christ returns he will be resurrecting the dead ones to life on this planet earth, that is why our hope is in this resurrection and not in heaven or hell like most people of the churches and of the world think.
John Edwards who claims to talk to the dead is actually speaking of the ideas that Satan has brought into our minds and he has the help of his evil demons to make it look as if he was really talking to the dead. Remember what was Satan's motive when he rebelled? To turn people away from worshiping God, and this is one of his many ways to distract us of our true worship to God.

Christians believe that we sleep until judgement and that the dead know nothing...
so speaking with spirits would be contradictory to what is being taught in the bible
however , like John Edwards , I too speak with spirits
and with respect , do not believe that we sleep until any judgement
but that death is only a doorway to the next life , our next step on our journey
we simply discard the physical body like an old coat

Hi Kitten,Since you blessed me,I think I must say thanks in return and some more. Read Bible or any thing you fancy but do not allow your Rationality to take leave. We should also consider the antiquity of such works and appreciate the degree of development of human thoughts at that point of time.Such works are jewels of civilization and deserve our respect.To think that we can and should run this world,human affairs and our lives by them would not only tantamount to degrading our intelligence but also to endanger this world ,for which we only caretakers for the generations to come.Let us see no ghosts and let us not wait for any Judgment.
