I would love to believe it is a religion of peace and love, because I believe God is love and merciful. But when I hear of men issuing fatwahs and people burning effigies and making death threats and blowing themselves up in the name of God or because someone said something about the Prophet, I really start to wonder.

Promises of heaven with virgins? To me sounds like an idea fabricated by the hearts of men.

Is Islam been manipulated by men?

I'm afraid it is. Every religion is. You just have to follow your own heart / mind while do all of your God rules.

Unfortunately yes, in some aspects, Islam has been manipulated by men. The Quran is still pure though. No one can change that. However, there are people today who through the corruption of their own hearts seek to corrupt that which is good. All religions suffer from this as well. I remember a saying but can't remember who said it, "Nothing is perfect once man gets through with it." Or something along those lines and it's perfectly true. Also the very nature of religion is a trial to see who is worthy of reward in the next life. Those who love and are peaceful will receive their reward and those who corrupt and decieve will receive theirs as well.

No worldly power can ever manupulate Religion.
Since God Almighty took responsibility to save Qura'n, there is no possibility of changes.

Qura'n is always available for reference and can be refered for any manupulation.

Earlier scriptures has been changed and corrupted by men, that isa why there are lots of versionsin earliear ecriptures.

Since Religion is completed with the revalation of Final scripture (i.e Qura'n), GodAlmighty took resposibilty to save it forever. ( Open challenge )

That doesnot means followers of Satan are not trying to play with Islam, But as I said no other power can even make a tiny change in Qura'n.

Islam is from Qura'n, as revealed to Prophet Muhammad ( pbuh).

Yes, of course. Religion is for man, God does not need it. Its not a message from outside. God may inspire but he inspires men. If you could take out the cultural influences, you would have just one religion. The only problem would be expressing it in a way that anyone would be able to own.

There are those who are extremists who do this. It is clear in one of the prophet's hadiths to be moderate (or to choose the middle). These people do not know anything about Islam, they just follow whatever their leaders say. In my view, they do not worship Allah, they worship those leaders who are ignorant. In Islam, killing an animal is forbidden, do you think killing people is allowed? Another example, drinking is not allowed because it harms the body, do you think suicide is allowed? It all requires a bit of common sense, which unfortunately those people are lacking.

No. You mustn't allow media coverage of ignorant and swindled peasants cloud your judgement. To a large extent, the religion is used as a political weapon amongst the uneducated. Indeed this is so in many countries and in many religions.

In the historical context of the religion, Islam was the first religion to accord equal rights to women. It demanded that husbands treated wives with respect and that a mother's role was so reverred that the path to Heaven lay under her feet. (It's metaphorical of course).

Prior to that, women were treated life property and infanticide was extremely common for female babies. The Prophet Mohd himself married a career woman who was his companion and highly regarded adviser all her life.

Come to Southeast Asia and you will see Ustazs and Ustazahs sit on the same stage, speak at the same forums on religious and secular matters. Both men and women are equals in the eyes of Islam.

The promises of heaven with virgins is too often misquoted. I was never taught a heaven of virgins was waiting for me. I was taught heaven would be the materialisation of all your wants and desires. (Isn't that the same heaven of Christianity and many other religions too?).

It is ironic when you come to think about it, that in Heaven, my wish would be to once again have the people I know and loved while I was alive.

Totally and those are usually Non-Muslim.
"radical Islam" is a creation of Western intelligence agencies to balkanize the Arab/Muslim world.

In the Mid 20th Century Ba'athism (secular Arab Nationalism) was a huge threat to western interest so they encouraged religious radicalism (Wahhabism was encoraged by the Brits who set up Saudi Arabia with a Wahhabi "royal family" in 1920s).

The symbiotic relationship between 'radical islam' and western imperialism is vitually unbroken since the 1920s.

The fact is Islam and the west and Muslims and non-Muslims have lived co-existed for centuries without provocateurs stirring up sectarianism and division.

It seems so, therefore do not judge Islam by the actions of its people, rather by its origins and sources!

There is no such thing as 72 virgins....just so you know.

The true God is loving and merciful Allah calims to be the God of the Bible but is not in agreement with the God that was before Muhammad. Allah is not the God that was before Muhammad...His teachings are not the teachings of Jesus Christ nor of any of the prophets of God...the Allah of Islam says he agrees with the prophets of God and then disagrees with them. Allah was created by Muhammad and his history is clear. Read the stories of Muhammad's life and see if this might lead you to understand why Islam is not a religion of love and mercy.
