Like all things involving statistics, your statement could be true, but probably not in the way you present it! The rich may have got richer than they were, and the poor become less rich . In other words the gap between the average wealth of the rich (however you decide these "rich" are) and the average wealth of the poor (ditto my comment re who are they?) may be greater, but there are very, very few really poor people these days - how many (or few) "poor" homes have washing machines, colour televisions, microwave ovens and so on, and, provided they are not incompetent humans who live on expensive pre-prepared foods rather than the much cheaper home-prepared, how many would quantify their "poorness" by meaning that they cannot afford a new car or a holiday to Florida this year, rather than a used motor and a week in Spain? Several pints a night in the pub per week, and packets of cigs seem to be afforded by those who one would think the poorest, which to me does not mean poor.
Tony Blair has been a self-serving egomaniac since well before he was elected, the only sadness is that the gullible British voters did not see it!

The rich always become richer because of the way in which most of them do business. The poor are far better off than under a Tory govt. People are no longer allowed to work for a couple of quid an hour, or less. Remember the Minimum wage? That's the idea the Tories didn't like very much, as it took more money out of there pockets. It's not fair to assert this at all. A good government must be pro-business, prioritize the economy of the country to distribute the benefits downward for the different strata of society to exploit and gain. This would set the condition for political and social stability. If this condition is lacking as in the lesser developed countries, there would be turmoil. China stands out as a good example.

If what you say is true, Britain today would have experienced pickets and strikes by the powerful unions.

No its not fair!.

If we lived in a Utopian society everyone would be treated equal. We all would get the very best education the best health care and the best social services.. sadly we don't live in anything like a utopia so we have to live with what we are given, and the social injustice which comes from greedy self interested self serving politicians who feather own nests and look after their own interests first! the ordinary working man is little more than a pleb!.

No one should under estimate the greed of politicians no mater what party!..

The class system in Briton will always be thus creating the classes in the first place. The middle classes were created to help the working classes while the rich create new laws to suit themselves.

The rich can leave Briton and live where they like, the poor are stuck in the mess the rich and politicians have created!

NO IT IS NOT FAIR, but what are the public doing about it?

The same was said about Thatcher the milk snatcher.
To be fair to Blair he did introduce the minimum wage which nearly every employer in the country was dead against.
