1. What is Bangkok Bank’s SWIFT code and when should I use it?
Our SWIFT code is BKKBTHBK. This is the one and only code for every Bangkok Bank branch. You can give this to the bank where the funds transfer originates from. It will save the search fees and time.

It depends on which bank you are talking about. every branch has a different swift code to help with international transfers of money. The swift code makes sure the money goes to the correct bank.
'SWIFT CODES' are a method of identifying Banks (and currencies) around the world, and is an efficient method for transferring money internationally (but not the only method). Each large banking institution is allocated a 'swift code' so that other banks may confidently identify EXACTLY which bank you refer to. To positively ID your own Bank - ask them for their 'Swift Code'.
Websites that aid this process are: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SWIFT_codes) or (http://www.swift.com/biconline/)

Another way to transfer money is by 'plastic cards' via ATM machines. Although this is quicker it is usually more expensive, and unsuitable for large amounts as there is often a 'local daily limit'. Cards may be used at a bank counter to arrange larger amounts.
Remember, if you transfer money to buy a condo, or to support a retirement visa, the money in your Thai bank account must originate outside Thailand, and be 'traceable'.
For money transfers, your 'home' bank will want to know the following:
Your Thai bank's name and address.
Your Thai banks' SWIFT code. e.g. BKASTHBK (Bank of Asia)
You account full name e.g. George Bush
Your account Number e.g. 012-3-45678-9

I had been in remittance for about ten years and it's really dumb to ask BIC code in Yahoo. Write to Bangkok Bank (if you mean BBL). BTW, outside Europe no one yet use IBAN.
