I absolutely adore 'blue nun' wine from Germany. It has an amazing fresh and crispy taste.

Does anyone know anything about this wine? Also - can you name me other wines that are similar in taste and crispness?

Blue Nun is a brand that has several wines from different countries.

Blue Nun used to be very very famous 30 odd years ago - it was the Pinot Grigio of its day, the wine everyone started with. The sold millions and millions of bottles and I'mafraid quality slipped and it became unfashionable

Now that standard German white Blue Nun (in the blue bottle) has been re-invented, made crisper and drier to suit todays tastes and the quality has been improved. The grape varieties are not names, so it likely to be a blend.

You should also like the Blue Nun Riesling - in a clear bottle - and if you enjoy that, look for other wines made from the Rielsling grape.

Blue Nun is a brand name of Liebfraumilch wine. Liebfraumilch is a German word that translates, loosely, to "Mother's Milk". Mother in this case being Mother Earth. Liebfraumilch is a blend of white wines. The predominant wine in the blends is from the Muller-Thurgau grape. Many other vintners in Europe and the USA sell their own blend of Liebfraumilch under their own label.
