I'm sure people have gotten broken noses, lost some blood, broken a bone here or there, but has anyone ever been seriously injured in a UFC match?

To my knowledge, no one has ever been so badly injured from a match that they couldn't continue to fight in the league (after some healing time), or couldn't resume a normal way of life.

There have been no serious injuries in the UFC, there have been a few broken bones, as mentioned above Tim Sylvia had his arm snapped by Frank Mir and there were some broken arms in the early UFC, a few people have lost teeth, Kero Parysian had a tooth knocked out by Diego Sanchez, and there have been some concussions but nothin serious has happened in the UFC.

In MMA as a whole there have been very few serious injuries, there has only been one death at that was Douglas Dedge who killed in anunsanctionzed event in Russia, he also had a prior brain injury that should have stopped him from competiting. Another serious injury happened in a bout between Mike Kyle and Brian Olsen, Olsen was on the ground kneeling and Kyle kicked him in the face, the ref stopped the fight but Kyle continued to attack Olsen, Olsens face was basically broken into pieces as a result of the fight and he needed massive reconstructive surgery to repair the damage, Kyle who has a history of dirty actions such as this has been banned for life from ever competing in an a sanctioned MMA event. I have posted a link to the brutal video, beware it is disturbing to watch.

Again, very few events, very freak incidents, both could be prevented if people only fought when sanctioned and physically healthy and also had self control and didnt fight dirty.

In the UFC I don't know but I would not be surprised if it has not happened once or twice. Even some severe facial, knee, or shoulder injuries can make it so that a fighter can no longer compete or compete at a high level. The rules have been modified from when it first started to protect the fighters and avoid injuries that end careers and now that's why you sometimes see the referee step in a little sooner in some of the matches. This also was one of the big concerns that they had to address to get it sanctioned in all 50 states. There was one American fighter killed in Russia or the Ukraine several years back in a MMA event but that was not under the UFC or probably with the modified rules that the UFC now employs to protect the fighters.

In UFC there hasn't been a real serious injury. There was a death in a promotion in Russia, and some guys have been beaten severely over seas where the rules aren't quite so strict. Check out pictures Of Sakuraba after his fight with Ricardo Arona... it's amazing he was able to fight after that.

There's been concussions, broken bones and serious bruising in the UFC, but nothing that would hinder a fighter's normal way of life.

The worst ive seen was when Frank Mir put Tim Sylvia in an arm bar and Tims arm snapped at the forearm....and when the show it in slow motion, you can actually see the bone break, and Tim continues to drop Frank on his head, but the ref has to stop it, cuz he noticed that his arm got broken.

Tim got a metal plate in his forearm, but he is still able to compete in some of the most boring heavyweight matches to this day, but only using his jab.
