Why is a sense of belongingness in a family important?

because it is the core of the self... i mean, if u dont feel part of a family or a group, u feel empty, maybe its something more deep than that, but in essence, having sense of belongingness in a family is the fuel that keeps us rocking hard!

Not really an answer to your question, but the usual expression is "sense of belonging", not "belongingness" which, as far as I can ascertain, isn't a word.

Sorry to be pedantic.

cause people have a need for this, but family should be a socially functional unit..
