Most indigenous peoples do. But they recognise a difference between the soul and the spirit. Some indigenous languages translate these to a 'life force'
So yes, flora, fauna and inanimate objects have a life force.

The idea that there is a universal spirit in everything has been around for as long as we have history for. It appears in India, in Ancient Greece, as the Tao in China, Stoicism in the Late Greek /Early Roman Empire.
It ia also the basis of many animist religions although the primitive animists considered each object to have a separate spirit.
So the answer is yes, there are lots of people that believe plants have souls. Some even think that the planet including the rocks and the space in between the stars not only have souls but that everything is part of the same soul.
Nice ideas but totally untestable and ultimately irrelevant.

I've heard of a device hooked up to a plant as they killed a fly in the same room the device registered electrical responses from the plant . whether this was made up or it was an electro magnetic disturbance from the fly or not is a question in my mind. I don't think there would be any reason why a Dog or a cat would require a soul though ;do they make moral decisions?

I believe God has a special place for animals when they die.I believe they have some sort of soul, but not like ours.
Animals today are just too intelligent & remember too well ,not to be recognised by God.
He gave us dominion over them when He made them, but many have the belief that we can do whatever we want to do to them.God never meant that!
We should treat all animals like the Indians did.Only take what you need & thank the animal for it's flesh or hide or service etc....
Animals give us love & devotion as well as food & clothing.
I'm not sure about plants.God will have to answer that one!LOL!

When you try to describe something using a word that already defines something else it's hard to get an answer that seems clear. I believe people have conscious, conscious denotes presence of thought, thought means creativity. Creativity comes from within, whatever is within, that is what you can describe as a "soul" of you'd like. My dog is creative, I believe she has a "soul" so it's not only a human trait.

I certainly believe so. In my perspective, most life on Earth have a spirit/soul. I think animals have souls too because they can freely think and freely feel.

depends on what you mean by soul or spirit. I dont think they have a kind of spirit that will go to God, but they have a spirit that can love.

I think that once animals become domesticated, the more contact they have with humans, the more humanized their souls become.
The exchange between animal and human is definitely more than just physical.
