just mail them instead. no problem. Fed ex and that kind of carrier works great. if you are shipping cell phones make sure that the phones have been unlocked so they can use different kinds of Sim cards. mail the phones and take the paperwork with you in your bags. boxes unfolded etc for easy carrying or you can mail the boxes separately.

First check to see if you need a license to import electrical goods from China into the EU.

Then find out what the Customs Duty is on electrical goods from China.

If you are importing goods as presents, then you need to declare anything over a value of Eur175, and pay Duty & VAT on this. You may be asked to prove that the goods are not for resale.

If you are importing goods for resale, then you need to declare everything, and pay Duty & VAT. Depending on the value, you may be required to make a written declaration, and provide all receipts and invoices. The cost of bringing the goods to the EU will be included in their value.

Declaration should be made at first entry to the EU, which will not necessarily be your final destination.

If you do not declare goods for resale, and are caught, the standard penalty in Ireland is "forfiture of goods plus a fine equal to three times the duty paid value". Alternatively, you could be taken to court and charged with smuggling, which is a criminal offence.

If they are sealed then you will need to declare and pay import tax. If you go through "nothing to declare" then if you get caught, you pay, if you dont get stopped then happy days!
