Hi Sweetie, He sounds like a Monster from Hell. Why would he be sooo mean to you and a helpless puppy like this. Yes your pup needs her shots at least 3 puppy shot while she is still a baby. Yes this will protect her from all sorts of puppy and dog diseases out there, she also need to be feed at least 3 times a day. She is a growing pup and need to have good food with all the vatimins she will need. Has your husband always been like this or has something change after you got marry? If you are unhappy and can't put up with what ever he does to you and your pup i would move in with your parents. You can always give your pup her own shot from a local pet store or feed store for larger animal. I am so sorry you are unhappy and being treating the way your husband is doing you. I hope things do workout for you and your pup and you are safe. A Friend.

Take the dog to obedience classes. They can also help you with his problem, just tell them what he is doing. Sounds to me he just needs some training. It probably does not help that you can't exercise him right now. He could also be stir crazy. Dogs normally need an hour walk every day. Which can be broken down to 30mins in the morning & 30 mins in the evening. Don't give up on him because you had to spend money on him & he is just acting like a puppy. You wouldn't throw your child away because you had to send him to the doctor, spend a bunch of money, then he ran around like a nut being all hyper. I mean you already have spent so much money on him you might as well keep him. Just do the obedience classes & take him walking (when he can do it) Those classes will teach him how to walk nicely on a leash too, just in case you go to walk him & he wants to drag you every where. He's not stupid he is just a puppy. 1human year = 7 dog years ... so your dog isn't even 7 yet. He's still a baby. At 2 years old he will be a teenager (14) and will be an adult by 3years old. If he does a behavior you don't like stop him & put him in his crate for 2 minutes then let him out. Repeat as necessary. But do not leave him in there any longer because then he will not connect being out in the crate with the behavior.

Raw or home cooked is better for the puppy. As for shot's, there's a lot to learn. Over vaccinating is a problem and can cause all kinds of long term health problems. At this point, I'm not sure if puppy shots should be given. I've been studing the science of it all for over 5 yrs now.
Mom's immunity protects the pup anywhere from 6 to 22 weeks. So if puppy shots are given before that immunity wears off, then they were a waste of time and money. Neither we nor vets know when the immunity wears off on any particular puppy.
Duration of immunity on vaccines is a lot more than one year.

First step deep breath & calm down. The dog in not in imedate danger and responding as so upset you can't fomulate a sentance means you just get the "hystrical female don't listen she doesn't know what she's saying" bit and a condesending "pat pat, we'll just take care of things till you can think". Compromise is the heart of a marrage so.. Lets start with the food 'cause its easiest - many folks do keep their dogs healthy with raw diets - others home cook - and there are premade raw diets sold frozen and Inova Evo is marketed as a kibble "raw diet". Get a raw book (library if needful), read it with an open mind and see if there is a diet you can feel comfortable with in there that your husband can be happy with too or try for one of the premade diets to see if he can compromise on them.... If you show some compromise he may be willing to give a tad on shots - try reminding him (CALMLY) that a one month old pup in nature is still with the parents getting the immune benifit of MILK - and that you worry the shots may be needed to make the difference. Failing that the rabies at least is required by law and gee that worrys you.... If that you pay for shots is his compromise and not an attempt to throw the blame on you then you have an outlet there. There are rabies clinics which sometimes include all shots in many areas for shots at $10 or so and I made that much in one afternoon holding a "come in to our sale" sign in front of a store. Many pet stores & farm supply stores sell the parvo & distemper shots for a few dollars if you can give them yourself....

Hi sorry to hear how mean your husband is. Sounds to me like he doesn't know much about animals. This puppy is just like a baby right now. This puppy needs its shots. It also need puppy food to help it grow right. Honey take your puppy and go home to your parents. I agree with the answers for some of the other people. If he won't let you give the care that this puppy needs how will he be with a child. Maybe, if you do go to your parents for a while he will open his eyes. Who knows he needs to be compassionate to Gods creation. If he didn't want you to give this puppy the right care it needs, why did he let you get it. You don't need a man that is going to control you. He is your husband it is his place to take care of you and that includes the money for your needs and the pet. Finish college and make a life for yourself don't depend on him. This puppy will love you unconditionally and for as long as it lives. Give it the care it needs.

Well, there is quite a bit of controversy over vaccinating (and commercial vs. homecooked vs. raw food) but I'm getting the impression that your husband is saying these things not because he is really into holistic animal care but because he doesn't want to pay for any shots or food.
Tell him that rabies vaccinations are required by law, and if your dog does not get the rabies vaccine he could be fined.

Shots are for things that you cant build antibodies for or that the pups body is incapable of producing. Much like an infant, a pup is born with a very weak immune system.... or non existant.... without those shots, the pup would be very vulnerable including to those things such as worms which all dogs (young and old) have no immunity to. WIthout worm shots, ur dog can die of things like heart worm which is a worm that gets into the dogs blood stream and clogs up its heart. No dog has antibodies to heart worm, the only way of stopping it from affecting the dog is to get its shots.
Tell ur husband that if it doesnt have its shots the only thing it will achieve is either killing it eventually or severely weakening it.... either way its animal cruelty.

YOUR HUSBAND IS RIGHT! You just sound like a hysterical, uninformed female. If you want to reason with your husband you need to be educated!
Dogs are Carnivores- they are wolves... Canis Lupus Familiaris
Wolves don't go grocery shopping and eat kibble, do they?
I'm including all the sites where you can educate yourself on how you should be feeding your dog and cats. Cats are little lions/tigers, etc. do you see them eating kibble from the store? No.
Feed your animals the way they should be fed.

Dump the jerk NOW and take the dog AND cats with you. He doesn't respect you, sounds like he doesn't even like you, let alone the dog.
PS You should not have a one month old puppy anyway - he is a tiny baby and needs his mum for at least another month.

get rid of the husband, i read the other answers, and i agree, he is a total loser!!! no way around it, if he feels that way he is an abuser,a loser, and a jerk. how old is he??? sounds like he dosent like animals.. report him to animal welfare!get the puppy the shots, and decent food! give the hubby the put to sleep shot, and put him out of his and your misery! as for the kitten, do not feed it raw meat! proyect them as if they were your children, they need you! as they have no one else. stand up for them and protect them. you can e-mail me if you want! good luck, let me know what happens.
