The state of dreaming is referred to 'nimitta' in Pali language.
It is a state of reality and conventional reality. It is between the realm of 'real' and 'not-real'. Those memory recalled are just signs from our hidden consciousness or 'unconscious mind' which is trying to remind us something or maybe informing us about certain things we have overlooked 'consciously'.
Even by being 'awake', how many of us are still in that dream state, may I ask?

Dreams consist of 3 elements -
1) memory of something that did not get fully digested, therefore you "held onto it" and the mind tries to get rid of the stress of it in the dreaming state,
2)future visions,
3) experiences from the vibration of the place where you are sleeping (ie. someone was fighting there the previous night and you dream of fighting),
and then there are dreams which are a mixture.
The discrimination comes with spiritual advancement. When enlightenment occurs, there are no more dreams! The mind remains totally aware even while the body is sleeps. Weird to understand, but it actually happens.

I am glad you are interested in dreams, your personal window to heaven. Dreams are unique to every individual, and so their interpretations vary from person to person, and change over time in the same person. The symbols that were meaningful ten years ago may no longer be applicable today. Therefore, you must be careful how you attach importance to them.
Dreams generally tell you a lot about your spiritual state: they can show you the past (especially as they relate to today), give insight about current challenges you may be having, or give you a glimpse into the future.
The mind only comes in as a tool to record the dream and store for your later use. Please develop a habit of studying your dreams. You may start by recording them, particularly when they are still fresh, even if you have to wake up in the night to do that.

I believe we are all gifted people. Your 'gift',buddy, is that ability to 'see in dreams', what could be considered important messages related to conscious times. This is truly rare. However, I've been told that the dreams we naturally forget upon waking are mere fruits of our unconsciousness (till now, no scientific explanation has been concretely established about what dreams really are about). On the other hand, those dreams we remember are intended to foretell some news... events... or pleas for offered prayers in some cases. Maybe, there's no need for forceful meditations as these may only stress the mind. If things can't be retrieved from the memory, maybe they're just meant to rest and be forgotten? ______________________________________... "Maybe it is directly linked with "The Source"!!!" Yes,.. i have a strong feeling "it really is"...

The unconscious mind. Let me explain. Everything that you do gets automatically stored in the conscious mind. Only lasting impressions get into the unconscious mind. How do you get to dream? Well, normally a person's mind never rests. It keeps on functioning even when you are asleep. That is, when you are awake, the conscious mind is working and when you are asleep, the unconscious mind takes over. All that you have been thinking about, anything or someone close, this gets automatically stored in the subconscious mind, and when you dream, the unconscious mind(which functions at night) retrieves all the stored thoughts from the subconscious and at that particular moment in time, you are projected from the physical plane to the astral plane.

Allow me to share my perspective on this. You must decide for yourself how you will view your dreams. It is very personal.
You see, feel, hear, touch, and taste in your dreams. You also experience emotions. In your dreams, you are experiencing a larger part of yourself than what is physical. Your mind uses memory of physical life to make sense of things that are larger than physical life. Therefore, dreams seem silly and mixed up.
If your dreams do not make sense, you can still find value in them by how you feel. Your emotions indicate your internal balance of thought.
You may seem to remember things in your dreams that you do not know of in this life. Ask yourself what you really want from this. Then you can use your emotions to help you understand the symbols in your dreams.
