So if your children disobey do they become not your children any longer?
God chose them, not because they were worthy, but so that he could demonstrate his grace.

The Jewish people are not JUST God's Chosen People.... they are HUMAN BEINGS, too. As such, they do not always do God's will and will "misbehave," as we ALL do.
Ezekiel 2:3-6, God said to Ezekiel: "Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day. The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says.' And whether they listen or fail to listen-for they are a rebellious house-they will know that a prophet has been among them.'"
See? They are a rebellious, obstinate, and stubborn people, not a "perfect" people... just "chosen."
You say they are "killers of the prophets"?? Many prophets died at the hands of non-Jewish peoples. So why are you picking on just the Jews for this one?
Now.. what does this make us Christians??? Just about the same... HUMAN!

The Jews were God's chosen people until Christ death.
From then on, spiritual Israel became God's chosen people. The first three years after Christ's death, the fleshly Israelites were the only ones permitted into this new covenant relationship.
After that 3.5 years, both Jews and Gentiles were equally permitted in with no preference. These are God's covenanted people now.

Well being a Jew is both religious and ethnic. Hebrews are the ethnic side of Judaism and not all Hebrews are Jews. The goes around, not all Jews are Hebrews. The bottom line is Hebrews are possiblly the chosen ones but Judaism could have been updated by Christianty. It all depends, I'm Jewish myself (but not Hebrew) so I'm up for it whenever He decides to answer the question!

You could ask some of the survivors or the Nazi concentration camps if they felt they were the chosen people.
To say that the Jews were the "killers of the prophets" some 2,000 years ago is completely absurd, asinine and truly offensive to me. Let's hate the Romans as well shall we?
The problem is hatred.

Chosen for what? If history is any indication, one could easily believe that the Jews were chosen to suffer, be exiled constantly, and be repeatedly blamed for a given country's problems.
Perhaps they believe that their suffering here will be rewarded in heaven. Maybe they're right, too. How can we know? Doesn't the bible say that? If the entire Jewish population forward and backward is being punished for what a group of people did 2000 years ago, is that just? Didn't Jesus ask God to "forgive them, for they know not what they do"? Jesus was perfect, and according to Christians, He had the authority of God, and is the judge of mankind. If He forgave them, then who are we to judge them? Even if they don't accept Jesus, He already forgave them. He didn't place any conditions on His forgiveness. What is the use of His forgiveness, if He takes it back? If you ask Jesus to forgive you, and you sin again, does He take it back?

Jews are children of the promise. Christ explained it best when he told the son's of Abraham that God could bring forth children from a rock. The promise that God made with Abraham was physical the fulfillment of this promise is spiritual. God gave us first the law then the fulfillment of the law. From the Rock Jesus Christ God did bring forth children of the promise.
