Yes it is and your seeing it happen. The hatred spawned from something, maybe not from her but from something else, or it could be something shes done.

Yes this is true. My father has belittled me his whole life and has take all of his pride in his son. I am 36 and have 2 girls now myself and a wonderful husband who completely loves his girls. Seeing my husband has really opened my eyes to see that my father actually thinks little of all women and was taught that by his father that all women a stupid and lower class so that has been his mind set all his life. It is sad because I spent a big part of my life trying so hard to get his acceptance but nothing has come of it and I have just faced the fact that he will be that way till he dies. Although it is bad when fathers are this way to there daughters because it has caused me a lot of trouble with men when I was a younger, I did not trust men and I had very little respect for a man which caused me to never open up to a man. My father did not even care who my boyfriend was he only told me he never want me to date a black man when I was dating a dark Asian once. My father is to prideful and prejudice and it is sad to see I only hope that after he dies someday that he comes back as a woman born to a prejudice old fashioned man like himself so he can go through what he has put me through.

Hate is a very powerful feeling and is part and parcel of deep love. If you love deeply and you get badly hurt repeatedly without sorting out the disappointments as they occur, and repair the bond, hate settles in-and it is Love's dark side.
It is there for a reason, ones love turns to hate due to the deep pain involved, after the person who loves is repeatedly hurt and there is no solution to salvage the loving bond. It protects you from crashing down. ..or else you become the loved ones victim.
Hate is a feeling just like another, and it takes a lot for a parent to hate their child, where it comes to a point of no return. Children also hate their parents for similar reasons.

If something does happen to their child however, one may just let go of all that holding on to hate, and it all may dissolve in minutes, and all the love is there as previously. If however too much damage has been done and it is irreparable, this may not happen. That is very sad, but realistic. One needs good communication and conflict resolution, to pass the troubled times.
Having said all that, the parent may have psychological problems from childhood, and hate their child for they themselves were not given the essentials to build substance within themselves which love requires. It is a very complex issue and structure.
Regardless what the case is, it is terribly sad to hear a parent telling their child that they hate them for it damages the person on the long run, unless that child is very strong within, and overcome this, able to see the problem within the adult.
This is a tragic situation but yes it does occur, and quite often, Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world, and one needs to feel compassion for both sides, but mostly for the younger, growing person.

How old is this girl - if she is very young she is being abused and maybe you could make a notification to the child protection. If he hates her he could sexually abuse her or hurt her physically. yes fathers and mothrs can hate their children why do you think there are thousands of cases where children are physically and sexually abused. To say taht to a young girl is disgusting and I think that you should really make a notification. Children are reliant on adults helping them and if their parents are emmotionally or physically neglecting them then its up to ther adults to help out and take responsibility. And yes in other cultures fathers have murdered their daughters for doing something minor like dating a boy from another culture. And look at all the fathers who appear infrom of the courts for killing their biological children.
