For purposes of full disclosure, I want to state that I am a Christian. I recently read a book where the author said that he doesn't think that non-Christians are bothered so much by the fact that Christians sin as by the fact that so many act as if they don't. What do you think of this statement? I just want to hear your thoughts please.

Yes, that is what gets my goat; the fact that they cannot see the plank in their own eye whilst pointing out the speck in mine...

I guess it would depend on the sin. If someone was a murderer then it would bother me more than someone trying to gloss their image a bit. Generally it would bother me more if a person acted like they didn't sin. I do think that there are som reasons for this behviour though. Some bad but some a little more understandable. I feel that some expect Christians to be perfect and look for any iota to criticize. In that mentality of defensiveness and judgementalism I can see how people could fall into the trap of trying to hide their sins. To me one of the all time lows i can remeber was when a minister was caught up in some sexual scandal and another minister referred to this guy as a cancer on the body of Christ. A few months later this minister himself was caught with a prositute. The fact that people get messed up with sin doesn't bother me so much as referring to other people as a cancer. I would have been far more impressed if the one guy had reached out to help the other. There is a verse in the bible I love that says if any of you who are overtaken in a fault(sin) let them that are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of meekness considering themselves less they also stumble. This may be the problem maybe there are no spiritual ones among us.

Great point, and good question. We as believers should strive to be more like Christ every day. However, as John states in the first chapter of 1 John- "if we say we do not sin, then we are liars". We can live lives that please God, however, we will and can still fall. I know a Christian that tells me that she can tell if the person is a Christian or not. If they are they will never sin- that is wrong. That is arrogance- admitting that we can still sin, and that Christ only atones us, and that He alone is the one that helps to be more like Him, to me is more of a Christian- because that causes humility.

Wow, that's a good question! I guess I can see it both ways. I talk to non-Christians almost every day and probably half would see it one way and half the other.

Being a Christian also, I think it bothers me more that some Christians act like they don't sin. That's hypocritical. Jesus had some pretty harsh words for hypocrites, but He never expected anyone to be perfect.

I believe in God as well. I don't live a Godly life as I'm supposed to. I think its that Christians act as if they don't sin. Its offensive to anybody when someone acts like they are better than you. I think some christians have the wrong idea about how to go about spreading Gods word. We should be a lighthouse for others, not put them down and turn our noses up. And those who we can influence, praise God.

I don't appreciate self-righteous Christians. When I say I am a Christian, I'm saying that I am weak, sinful, and need help to survive. As a Christian, I'm saying that there is nothing I can do outside of Christ to save myself. I'm saying that I'm filthy with sin and that the only way I can be clean is by the Blood of Jesus Christ. Peace.

anybody sins, no exceptions and anybody at one factor no count what faith, acts like they do no longer. fairly of being concerned with what bothers people greater, ones' ability could desire to fairly be concentrated on oneself. regrettably that question makes people become judgmental inflicting them to sin. the worldwide is crammed with sin and sinners, including to the pile in simple terms makes issues worse. answer to the question; . . . the two. yet what bothers a great form of persons greater, are people who understand the undertaking, know the respond, know a answer, yet paradoxically are nonetheless an element of the undertaking.

It doesn't bother me that Christians sin. We all sin. It doesn't bother me that people act as if they don't sin. Lying is just another ordinary sin.

What bothers me is that Christians don't hold themselves accountable for their own sins, but they hold non-Christians accountable for theirs. If a non-Christian sins, he is going to hell. If a Christian sins, they hold Jesus Christ accountable. Either way, Christians believe that they get a free ride to heaven on the broken back of an innocent man. Horrifying, really.

I'm a christian and I know I am a sinner, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The blood that Jesus shed covers our sins so that we can be in the presence of God. That is why we no longer have to sacrife any living creature, because Jesus was the last acceptable sacrifice. Jesus Christ was the Lamb of God.

Ehhh....sorta...there are tons more reasons. I think they do know they have sinned (bc of adam and eve) but through their inperfection they still want to try their best. That's why they look down upon non believers? It's a classroom of kids where no one gets 100 on a test but the people that score A and B's will look down at the C and D ppl because they think they are stu pid.

what bothers me is the fact that religious groups believe that they have a monopoly on God. God is supposed to love us all equally but where do people believe that they are special, chosen? God does not love the Christians more than the Jews or Muslims or anyone else. the jews were chosen to spread the word of God, not as a favored group. Man shouldn't put his words into God's mouth.
