I am starting a diet tomorrow. I have been trying to start this diet for over a whole year now. What foods are okay to eat? And how do I keep myself from eating the bad food that I am trying to stay clear from? What are some dieting tips and exercises that you suggest??

<3 Thanks

anything that is fat, sugar or carbohydrates.

Protein foods like tuna and fruit and tofu are excellent with a but of sugar free, fat free sauce.
steer clear of nuts and bread. but any fruit will help you lose.

You can eat anything you want in moderation. However. We rarely do it. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, eat smaller portions and eat more times in a day. Instead of eating one or two meals a day eat something every two to three hours like an apple, couple of carrots or a small bowl of oatmeal (No sugar or butter added). Eat foods with less carbohydrates and less sugars. Stay away from fried foods. Cook with olive oil or vegetable oil. Use condiments like salad dressings and ketchup sparingly.

If you do eat out at a restaurant be sure to only eat half of what is on your plate. Get the rest to go and eat the rest a couple of hours later. Before too long you will be ordering child plates and be full from them.

For some recipes and information that are good for you go to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association web sites. The recipes and information from these two web sites are beneficial and can help you find a diet that's right for you and won't leave you feeling starved.

As far as exercise goes. Do any type of cardiovascular or aerobic exercise that you are comfortable with. Even fast walking a minimum of 20 minutes a day 3 days a week will help.

First, everybody is different. It's important to find a diet that you can live with without feeling deprived. How old are you? What do you weigh? How much are you trying to lose? Has your doctor said you are fit enough to diet at this time? Could you be pregnant? All these things are important, so be sure to get a checkup.

I lost about 55 pounds last year. (One pound for every year of my age). I did it with the help of a friend who went on the same diet with me. We had 1000 to 1200 calories a day. Our diet included protein shakes for breakfast and dinner, with snacks of fruit in the morning and afternoon, and a lunch that was 400-600 calories. We ate a lot of salads from a local market that had the calories listed, and we threw away the dressing. We also drank 8 glasses of water a day. I lost an average of 10 pounds a month.

For me, having the protein shake for breakfast was a big help. Do Not skip breakfast, or any meal for that matter. It makes one too hungry late in the day, and that's when I personally get into trouble.

There are lots of diets out there. Find one that is not too extreme, and set reasonable goals. Only weigh yourself once a week, because women's weight can vary dramatically from day to day, even when you are being careful. And keep a bunch of those baby carrots around for when you just have to have something!

Before I answer this the one thing that kills me is people gaming for point, You ask a good question than people just type in don't eat, don't eat so much. Its like don't bother answering if your not going to give a real answer. Now that I am done complaining. I lost about 75lbs. It took 1 year. I made alot of changes. I started slow. The first thing I did was start to drink more water. Now I hated water and it was hard to do. But I would start by replacing a cup of soda with water. It took while but after a few months it was all water I really acquired a taste for it. Along with that I ate slightly smaller portions and I tried to not eat or eat much after 6pm. Than I exercised. It took a full year to get that weight off, now its 3 years latter and my weight remains the same. You should approach dieting as a life change and something that you should do gradually so it really lasts. Also while dieting I still at McDonald's and The occasional cheesecake.

The key to sticking to a diet is you must be orgainsed and prepared. You need to plan out your whole weeks meals at the start of each week. This will help so you do not come home from work and just go for the easiest thing in the pantry. Cut a carrots and celery and carry them around with you to snack on. If you have others to cook for, brush your teeth before hand so you are not tempted to nibble on their food. And lastly it never hurts to chew on ice to pass the time. Good luck with your diet, you can achieve your goals

Drink lots of water!! Try drinking a full glass every 2 hours. This makes you lose weight effectively, it has worked for me and my mum. When you drink so much, you will feel less hungry and start to develop thirst. This is good, because many people don't feel thirsty these days, so they forget to drink.
Read this: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2003/02/030205073358.htm
Or google: water and diet
Another source suggests: "A person who is overweight should drink an additional 8 ounces for every 25 pounds over his ideal weight" (Americans - so annoying with their ounces and pounds!)

Water helps to break down the foods you eat. The water diet will also give you more energy so you will feel motivated to excercise (walking probably good to start off with). Of course, remember leafy green veggies, and just follow the food pyramid suggestions. The key is to develop good habbits and stay healthy for long, rather than lose weight drastically!

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

first of all.. resist eating candy or any food having high sugar content

Drink lots of water!!!!
don't drink cold water...drink lukewarm water .. cold water increases body's tendency to retain fat.
Stop drinking aerated drinks.(if you have to go for Diet Pepsi/coke)

don't eat after 7 in the evening. food intake in a day should be like an inverted pyramid .

eat heavy breakfast.
prefer brown bread to white one.eat veggies more.

exercise everyday if you don't have enough time at least do warm-up till you start sweating.

1) Set small, reasonable monthly goals for yourself.
2) Officially allow yourself to cheat a little bit. Otherwise, you will become very neurotic about your favorite foods.
3) Walk. A treadmill is great because then you can exercise no matter what the weather is outside.
