Ok, so i've lived in my house for about 4 years now. About a year ago we started seeing mold appear on our bathroom ceiling, and we asked the landlady about it and she said it's been there, but she bleached it out and painted over it and now it's just coming back. Well it wasn't too bad at first, but about four months ago our whole ceiling was spotted with it. Two months ago i started getting really sick non stop with headaches, body aches, sore throats almost every day, fatigue, and ear infections. A couple weeks later i started feeling anxious all the time and irritable. I looked these symptoms up on the internet and all of them combined pointed to toxic mold syndrome. I'm scared that i have it, mainly because the mold on our ceiling is black, the most dangerous kind. I'm scared of it getting to the point where i actually get depressed and so sick to the point i can't get out of bed. Is toxic mold syndrome curable? Do they have meds for it? I would like to know before i go to the doc

About 2 years back or to say ago I had the same problem not only did I but so did my 2 kids. Moving is a excellent idea because you cant cure yourself and go back into your place because you will get sick again. AS for a cure yes it goes away allot quicker if you decide to go to the doctor and get antibiotics but if you are looking for a more natural route I would go on the Internet and look up natural health remedies to cure your problem or go to a natural food store and they will give you a list of products to get. My advice don't stay in bed your body needs to exercise and you need to breath breath the more air you get the better you will start feeling

First of all.......sorry to burst your bubble, but you most likely do not have Toxic Mold syndrome. When you hear hoofbeats, don't think zebras right away. Not only that, but that term is ill-defined and is not firmly established in scientific literature.

Secondly, the reason the mold keeps coming back is that there is moisture somewhere feeding it. NO MOISTURE=NO MOLD.

Thirdly, your medical symptoms need to be characterized for a physician. It could be allergies to other things that are brought about by damp building materials or other indoor antigens. In addition, most of the symptoms associated with mold allergy or exposure would be respiratory in nature. Some of your symptoms suggest a far more complicated pathology.

Good luck

I'm so glad to hear that you're moving. I was going to suggest that. As for your illness, get to the doctor ASAP! Of course there are meds and treatments for toxic mold syndrome, and delaying seeing a doctor isn't a very good idea. The sooner you treat this condition, the sooner it will go away. That house should be quarantined until the mold is completely eradicated. That's a definite health hazard, and your landlady should call in a professional to remove it permanently.

You will start to feel better the second you are out of that place but you do need to go see a doctor to make sure that you don't have any of the spores in your lungs. There is treatment so don't worry. You should report your landlady to the rental board and take some pictures and samples of the mold before you leave. Your doctor will also appreciate a sample since there are different kinds of mold. Good luck and hope you feel better real soon.

When you hear the term no balls, it has a different meaning to each person. No balls to some people means being scared to get hurt, or do something physically courageous. To others it means being an avoider, avoiding conflict, or confrontation, or manipulating instead of confronting. Most of my trouble in life has come not from actually being an avoider, but from being a shy person, and being seen as an avoider. I don't believe people ought to find more guts, because nobody, including me, has guts all the time, every day. I'm just a guy with a bad social mistrust and discomfort, and some people see it as fear of confrontation, and as a human being, I care what they think more than I pretend to care about them.

Go see your doctor about it, seriously.

At the same time....Sheesh you guys! Have none of you seen mold grow in a hot damp enclosed bathroom before?! You clean it with bleach or other mold remover. It happens. Not neccessarily anyones (landlords) fault. It's the conditions in the bathroom - not enough air circulation to get things dry. Probably the only way to get rid of it totally would be to replace the dry-wall and create some sort of ventilation.

You should go see your doctor. When you move, please make sure everything is kept very dry and possibly treat everything with an anti mold agent- you don't want to bring the mold with you! Also I would contact your local health department about this rental property before it makes someone else sick.

You need to see your doc and discuss this with him/her but it does sound like that is just what you have. Do you have friends you could stay with until you actually move?

Ask a doctor. That's probably the only way you'll know for sure.
