First of all, the kilowatt is not a unit of energy, but of power (rate of transformation of energy). So I guess you mean how many kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy is used by the average house in a day.
You also don't say whether you mean total energy consumption, including energy from gas (which is also often measured in kWh), or just electrical energy. So I'll assume just electrical.
What counts as average will depend very much on where the house is. Energy consumption per head is much lower in China, say, than America.
I live in the UK, which is somewhere between these two countries for energy consumption. My house has four people in it and we are fairly economical users. Our average daily electricity consumption is about 5.75kWh.
There's a very good (though old) world survey and discussion of this question at http://www.un.org/esa/sustdev/publications/esa99dp6.pdf.
