Excellent question!
I would have to say yes because most people do not or can not understand infinity same as death.
Your question could be debated forever but it is great food for thought. :)

No, ceasing to exist is the easy way out. If we lived our 70 so years on the earth and died to nothing life wouldn't matter as much. Believing in eternity is what gives life meaning because this is merely one part of our life and the shortest at that. I know a lot of people who believe we die and that's it, but far fewer believe we can live for ever because that's harder.

Both are hard to comprehend. Ceasing to exist is especially hard to comprehend when someone you love has just died.

I like pondering infinity better than pondering the ceasing to exist!

I think that you may be describing the concept of imagining nothingness.....It hurts real bad.
EDIT To me,personally I find this somehow even more difficult than imagining infinity.

I've read that we're trapped between two eternities. To think of myself setting at the dead of one eternity...that just ain't right...

No. Every single one of us has not existed before.
Infinity is mind-boggling.
