If the greek bible translates parts of the bible to mean forbidding fornication? Then are about 90% (just an estimation) of the males growing up today going to hell? Isnt it natural to experiment when you are younger and yet it goes against the bible? But I guess religion teaches us to go against our desires? I do respect the bible but I definitely do not take everything literally. Opinions?

i'm a muslim, so i will enter the debate according to the Quran not the Bible, though both teaches the same teachings = pre-marital sex is prohibited.
there are reasons that the West society never know. it is good to experience something so natural. islam has a way for it, through marriage. sex is not everything in relationships. the west society practises that if the sex is not good, then leave the partner. a marriage or a union between man and woman is more than that.
now even though unwanted pregnancies and STD can be avoided, these are parts of the reason also.
islam protects their men and women by the prohibition of pre-marital sex. women are viewed priceless and should be covered and protected, not to be slept around with. please dont refer to those muslims in some parts of the country who did not follow islam vigorously.
so in islam society, man and woman unites sexually in a holy matrimony. when men and women have been practising sex outside marriage, thats when marriage became worthless to most individuals today.
peace...

As a Christ follower, I'm not going to condemn anybody to hell! It's not my decision. But I do know that Jesus came and gave his life so that I and everyone else who accepts His free gift of grace could live out eternity with Him in heaven. EVEN THOUGH we sin. As far as the Christian Bible goes, you absolutely cannot leave the New Testament out of the equation.
This is where everybody usually gets bunged up, and many people say, "So I can accept Christ and then do whatever I want?" But God knows our hearts. And I know that after accepting Jesus and forming a relationship with Him, I WANT to please Him, I want to do the right thing. And I am strengthened knowing that the Holy Spirit is guiding me to do what's right. My point is, if you really love God, you will not spit in His face by blatantly doing whatever you want to do. But you will struggle, you will falter, and it may take some time to fully be the best that you can be.
And no matter what your beliefs, in the end, aren't we all trying to be the best versions of ourselves?
Oh, and Ford Prefect: I'm so sorry for your woman friend who met "Bob" at a gym and married him. Sex or no sex, Christian or not, they should have had a discussion before they got married.

Well not exactly as you put it. Look let me put it this way.
You have a best friend with whom you dont have to hide anything. But one day you discover he or she is cheating on you. You feel he or she is not worthy of your trust and affections. This is the basic foundation of a man woman relationship; especially when it comes to the sexual consent. For a man this act is purely physical but for a woman it is half mental and half physical. True she enjoys it but only if her mind is in it. Otherwise it is just a horrible act for her.
When Jesus said to Love one another,he meant to consider the true feelings of the other. Love keeps a relationship going strong. And it is the relationship, the affection one has for another goes on.Sex and other things are only temporary functions to enjoy with each other.
Now regarding desires, it is a very temporary affair. No religion or for that matter anybody in their right minds will advise anyone to follow the desire of the heart every time. You will end up in deep distress.

The actual number is higher than that. Recent studies (they were posted in either USAToday or the New York Times a few months ago) said that about 95% of everyone in the United States had sex before marriage with a possibility of error at +/- about 1.5%.

Please don't confuse the "desire" to do something as making the action acceptable. Our desires and passions are to be brought under our control and used for the glory of God. If you live by your desires with no checks on them then you'd be having sex with any girl you want; you'd be punching people in the face because they made you angry; you'd be stealing things because you wanted them, and so on. Religion does not teach you to go against your desires but to control them.
God gave us the desire to reproduce via sex and it is a wonderful act given to us by God so it's not a bad thing. We make it a bad thing when we use it in ways that we are not supposed to. Sex, and all forms of it, were meant to be within a committed marital relationship, not running amuck.
If that isn't enough for you, premarital sex and extra-marital sex lead to sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, rape, depression, hurt feelings and broken relationships, divorce, altered life plans, contribute to poverty, child abuse (all forms of it).
If you truly respect the Bible and want to live according to God's ways, use your intelligence and think about what God's plan for marriage and sex is. Ask a pastor or a priest. That is their area of expertise, God's Word.

a woman friend of mine at the athletic club met this guy and really thought he was great...she just thought he was being a gentleman by never wanting to go very far...This was the club where the guys showered in the same room and saw each other naked at least a few times...but "Bob" always made sure no one saw him...he had a strangely large "package" in his workout outfit you couldn't miss...anyway, she married him without ever "trying him out"....I saw her and talked with her a few days after the wedding and she was mad as hell and was in the process of getting the marriage annulled...it turned out that he had a very strange and malformed appendage...she felt tricked and was humiliated...
so, the moral is to at least see if the guy or gal could be a functioning partner in a physical relationship

I would agree that it is natural to have sexual desires of any age past puberty. One might presume it would be natural to "experiment". Well, maybe. That's because we are by nature sinful; we're naturally sinful. We naturally would rather satisfy ourselves by indulging in masturbation, pornography and fornication than consider what the Bible tells us or what we should innately know is wrong. Though the Bible also says to forgive people for they know not what they do (aka, some don't realize they're sinning).
The reason for forbidding sex until marriage is only out of God's love for us. He knows that sex in the confines of marriage is what is best for us. He knows because he knows everything. I could name quite a few problems with having sex before marriage. I would argue that there isn't much to sex-we all know how to do it. We can all enjoy sex inside of marriage, so I see no need to experiment beforehand. When we are married, we can have all the sex we want, so why spoil that beforehand?
The reason is, again, we'd rather indulge in sexual perversion than to wait until the proper time that God has intended it. We want to because we are naturally sinful. Because we want to satisfy our desires, we sin. Sin is a separation from God. Many people will go to Hell, but not because they had sex before marriage. We are all sinners. We all deserve Hell because of it. But, Jesus did a miraculous thing-he died for our sins. All we have to do to avoid Hell is to repent and put our faith in Christ. It has to be genuine of course.
Repent means to turn away from sin. If someone repents and puts faith in Christ, but habitually is having sex before marriage, it wouldn't seem to have been a genuine change in the person. Once Christ accepts us, we are born again, and we'll likely sin. However, we should be so sick of sin that we want nothing to do with it. That's the power of Christ. He changes people so that they don't want to sin. With that power, we should still confess of our sins, but we genuinely strive to not commit any. Once we are saved, we grow with Christ, so that sin becomes the last thing on our mind.
I've heard many claim that if masturbation is a sin, that 99% of people are going to Hell. Well, that's about how many guys that have done it. Sin is the separation, but we can be forgiven of them. When we repent, it covers all sins past and future-that's why someone who is genuinely saved strives to not sin, and shouldn't even consider sin as an option for their actions.
Sex is great. Save it for marriage. The Bible teaches that not to go against our desires, but to save those desires for when it's appropriate. And once you're married, sex is allowed. Not just sex, any type of sex, and anytime. It's certainly worth the wait.
EDIT:
I'm assuming the comment about repenting was directed toward me (and the thumbs-down). I'm not sure what you mean by saying that. Natural is having sexual desires. Repentance is a choice, it doesn't come naturally to people. People like to sin, and naturally will continue it. You can almost call it instinct. But when people understand that God has laws, they should realize they need a savior because they're in big trouble if they die. Understanding that we're bad helps us to get out of the situation of sin; genuine repenting, and trusting in Jesus allows one to avoid eternal torment.
By the way, I was going to say that 90% is not a low estimation; I think it's a high one. But the masturbation one I said is probably right (99%).
