Personally I wouldn't run from them, unless I knew I could get a clean getaway (get off their property in time), but then you can't go back to that place while that rental cop is working. But honestly, I don't think it is too hard to run from them because most of them are fat people who aren't in shape.

It depends who exactly you're talking about here. Private security has no law enforcement powers, and in most cases really have no reason to be making traffic stops. Now, the department of public safety is completely different. If you get pulled over by your state's or city's DPS, you need to realize they are LEOs and have arrest powers. If the vehicle behind you has yellow/amber lights, no worries. If you see blue or red, it's in your best interest to pull over. In no case, would I recommend you telling them to f#*& off.

I used to be a security officer and they really are there just for show. They do not have the right to touch even if your stealing stuff. All they can do is get a description and call the cops.
One exception is mall security, they do have the right to arrest you INSIDE their premises. Its called a "Citizen's Arrest"

Those guys wouldn't be pulling you over. If you're on the road, it's a real cop.

never a good idea, even if it is a security officer rather than a cop. security officers are backed by the police if they need the help.
