I showed up about 15 minutes early and I told the receptionist I had an inteview at 2:30 with Gary...... She sent me to his office. I introduced myself and he said he would be with me in a minute and to wait at the table outside his office. I sat down and looked around at the info about the company while I waited and he could see me but wasnt staring at me, he was on the phone and doin paper work or something. After 10 min, he called me in and said "Hi I'm Gary, of course" and I said "hi I'm Tina ..., nice to meet you" and a hand shake, then he said " have a seat" so i did. and i like hands on work and staying busy. He said he was conducting interviews up until Monday and that the employees already there were suppose to have there orders in by Friday as to which machines they want to run since they been there longer they get to pick, then he would know what positions he would need to fill. He said he should know by next wednesday or thursday. He asked me if i had any questions and i asked if they had always had a 2nd and 3rd shift or if they were just expanding. (they are hiring for all positions for both shifts at 2 locations) he said they just bought new machines and need people to run them. i asked if i could call him next week and he said "yes, wednesday or thursday i should know something by then." He thanked me for coming in and i thanked him for his time. Then i left. I feel good about it and wonder what you think. The whole interview only took about 7 minutes.

Sounds to me like the interview went fairly well. Although he did tell you to call back next wed or thurs. drop a thank you note in the mail thanking him for taking time out of his day to interview you and reinforce why you would be an asset to the company. Don't know if he told you to call him if you had any additional questions in regards to the position but I would take that opportunity and use it to get a tour of the plant. It's really not necessary to do but to employers this is free PR and they strive on it!! GOOD LUCK!

It sounds like you did everything right. But it is out of your hands now and only Gary knows.

If you don't get the job remember these decisions are often not the result of anything you did or didn't do. Sometimes the person hired is only a slightly better candidate than you. Sometimes the person hired isn't even a better candidate but they fit the mold of who the interviewer thinks should be in the job. Sometimes the interviewer actually does you a favor and doesn't hire you because they know you aren't the right "fit" for the job. Sometimes the interviewer already knows who they are going to hire but is required by company policy to interview so many people.

My point is - Try not to get too invested in one job interview and don't take it personally if you don't get the job.

I hope you get the job you want and best of luck to you.

Sounds like he is concerned that you have been out of the business for 7 years. However you might get a call back you used words that show interest in the job. If you are really interested you cna send an email as a follow up tell him it was nice to meet with him and you look forward to hearing from him soon. If no email address call him in a few days. You should always ask when a manager will be making a decision on a job so you will know when to follow up, if you are really interested be persistent kindly.
Good luck!

Sounds like it went well. The fact that you answered all of his question without hesitation is a good thing. I am a recruiter and i deal with this all day long. The best thing you have going for you is that you asked if you could call him next week and he said yes. If he was not going to hire you he would have said that he would call you. So on monday call him and ask if he had made a decision on hiring you and when he would like you to start. Be proactive. Follow up is the key. The employer wants to know that you want the job.

Most interviews of this nature can be short and sweet due to the amount of applicants they need to interview.
Showing up 15 minutes early isn't advisable next time because it often makes the employer feel obligated to hurry their current task along to get with you.
5 minutes is more feasible.
"Friends of mine that know people that work there?" Wow, that is a lot of hearsay through third parties?
Saying more about the company, like, "I did some research on your company and understand that you have an excellent safety rating" or, "Your number one in electronic sales" or something along those lines.
Not trying to be critical, just giving some pointers. You sounded very courteous and the greeting seemed nice. Asking him if you could contact him was great. Maybe indicate that you brought a reference sheet for his/her review in closing would be nice before you left and then supply him/her with one.
Good luck...I think you did fine.

I have interviewed and hired people. If he has a need to hire someone I see no reason why he would not hire you based on the interview. Did he explain the skills required and ask if you could perform them? If you really want that particular job, I would try asking friends of yours, if they can get the person they know that's employed there; to put in a good word for you. Networking these days is key.

Yes. Hiring is part of my job and I would hire you because you felt the company was a good company to work for, you have done the work before and liked it and you are flexible regarding shifts and have reliable day care. However, legally, he shouldn't ask you about your children or day care. Good Luck!

It sounds like it went well, but his question about child care was probably illegal. If you get the job, be on guard for that guy over-stepping his bounds. Don't let him draw you into any conversations about your home life. Just tell him you can take care of it.

Wow, I can't believe you remembered all of that. But I think he would hire you because you weren't fired from previous jobsand you have had previous factory experience. It sounded like a positive interview.

Congrats! It went very well. You addressed each of his questions. I think he will hire you. I know I would. Be sure to send him a thank you note for the interview. (It's important, and many people forget to do this.)

Best wishes.
