Leviticus 19:28
King James Version (KJV)
28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

People say that the OT laws dont apply, but yet they continue to hold to the ten commandments. I say every word of the Bible is truth. Men may say other wise, but the scripture says, let every mans word be a lie, and Mine(God) be true. Jesus also said man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY Word that procedeth out of the mouth of God. If God said it, that's all there is too it. If we understand that Jesus Christ is the Word, which is God, and was with God in the beginning, made flesh and dwealt among us, than we can say that thw Word spoken to us saying not to get tattoos thousands of years ago, was from Jesus Himself. The Word.

Hebrews 13:8 (King James Version)
8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Than His mind hasnt changed.

Now personally, just for all the critics and the legalist. The laws apply, but since the lamb of God came and made a perfect sacrifice, by the blood of Jesus Christ, we are no longer living under the law. But under grace. So if anyone has any tattoos, when you come to give your heart to the Lord, it is alright, it is under the blood, and the Lord can truly forgive, which means He forgets. But Grace came also to magnify the law, so for those of us who know the truth, it would be rebellion against God to get a tattoo. You can still be forgiven if you confess, to God not a man, and truly repent. But it is considered rebellion none the less.

1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Here we have the Word telling us again that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, so if getting a tattoo is a rebellion against the Word, which is Christ, which is God, than it is no different than practicing witchcraft.
If anyone disagrees with this than I have only to say, show me by the Word of God, that this is wrong, otherwise, it is the truth.

By the way, I am not catholic, I am a Christian Message believer, I do not believe in denomination, creed or dogma (these cause separation and confusion, neither of which God is the author of). I know no law but love, no creed but Christ, and no book but the Bible, which is the fully inspired Word of God.
I do have four tattoos, I used to be a gang member, but the Grace and Mercy of God sought me out and saved me. I now can only believe His Word.

I think it is a matter of personal conscience. It also depends on what the tattoo is of, and especially what the intention of the heart is for the person getting the tattoo. If the intent is to be vulgar or salacious then it is a no no, if it's just a tattoo then it's no big deal.

I can find no Catholic teaching against tattoos.

However a point to ponder:

You are a masterpiece work of art, created in the image and likeness of the artist, God.

Would you go up to Leonardo Da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper" and try to "improve" it by adding your own touches here and there?

With love in Christ.

Its ok for Catholics to get Tats.
I know someone who has the last supper tattooed across their arm.

Its ok to get a tattoo just as long as what the tattoo is dosen't go against the bible.

God Bless!

I'm not catholic, sorry. But let's put it this way. If your not sure whether or not it is wrong to do a certain thing, then don't do it.

there is no catholic teaching against getting a tattoo, i would only suggest it isn't rude or represents something bad/evil or offensive. the body is a temple, you wanna decorate it go for it but keep it nice like the temple.

i can't think of anything in the Bible and i've never heard any catholics preach against it, but here is my humble opinion: God created and gave us this body exactly how He wanted it to be, and adding tattoos is altering His work. however, if the tattoo was of something tasteful, such as a cross or crucifix or a scripture verse, or something non-religious such as the name of a loved one who has died, i think it is acceptable.

The parish I grew up in held fast to the OT laws regarding tattoos. I didn't inquire in any of the next three parishes I was part of.

It's her life, her body and her business.

small tattoos in good taste in areas that do not interfere with modesty are fine but, tattoos on your butt or on a breast or somewhere that is just to show off the body is not right.
