I thought that once and I was in the worst place in my life that I could imagine at that time and I got upset with Jesus and began to cry,I cried for hours and prayed for the Lord to help me,to come back to me and he did but,to my surprise I learned that night that Jesus had never left me it was I that had strayed far from him when the Lord says to come out from among them he means it. I have had many hard times even harder than that but I was with the Lord so he truly carried me

This makes me think of the story about the man and woman who have been married for 30 years and are taking a drive in the car. The husband is driving and the wife is sitting in the passenger seat. They stop at a red light and glance over at the car beside them. There, they observe 2 young people snuggled next to each other while waiting for the light to change. The wife says, "Why don't we snuggle in the car like that anymore?". To which the husband replied, "I'm sitting in the same place. You're the one who moved over."
Jesus doesn't leave you. He's there even if you have "moved" away from Him and he's waiting for your return. Prayer and reflection is what is needed when your friend feels that way.

Well, Jesus was God made flesh. He said, "I will never leave nor forsake you, surely I will be with you even until the end of the world". And God is not man that He should lie. Therefore, it is impossible that Jesus would leave this person.

I pray that your friend comes to know that, no matter what things look like, how we feel, we can always, always stand on the word of God as the absolute truth.

Jesus said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. If the person thinks that Jesus has left because they don't " feel" His presence anymore, then tell this person that we don't have a relationship with Jesus based on feelings but on faith. Also, if this person thinks they have sinned and God is displeased and has turned His back on , that's a lie of the devil. Because Jesus died once and for all sins, past, present and future. Your friend just needs to confess and repent and receive the forgiveness from God. We may be unfaithful to Jesus but He is never unfaithful to us.

Jesus said "whosever will may come". If your friend has been saved and backslid..the verse " If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness". Jesus is the Good Shepherd and rejoices over finding one lost sheep.

I have talked to a few people like that. There was nothing I could say to them to change their mind. I think that you had better leave it up to God. Yes, pray. God decides who to draw, so He's the one with the ability to convince someone that their faith hasn't left them.

I have found, that God is inexhaustible. Jesus came to seek, and save that which was lost. If He is inexhaustible, then He never ceases to seek, or save. The bible says ask and you shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. It is never Him who leaves us, but it is us who leave Him. But in God there is no pride, He is willing to happily except us, even though, we may have wanted everything else in our life first. Except Him. The trick of Satan isn't to steal your salvation, he has no say in the matter. Not if you have truly believed, and been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. But he is out to still your joy. David of old, when he had committed murders and adultery, to think God never left him, but he had left the presence of God. He used to write psalms and praise God in the sanctuary. He said he rejoiced when they would say to him, Let us go the the house of the Lord together. Then one day, he found himself crying out to God, to restore the joy of his salvation. God never left him, and he still had his salvation, but because he left the presence of God, the devil was able to trick him, and still his joy. But Jesus said, "I will be with you always, even in you, unto the end of the world." My watch is still ticking, so He hasn't left his children yet. (nor will He) That is, if you truly believe, and He was with you to begin with. All we have to do, is take God at His word.

Consider him nailed to the cross, being mocked by the people. Would he suffer that only to abandon someone?
