I know you have the big three: The super duper good one where you get to meet/become the heir of God, The pretty darned good one where you go if you are a good person but you didn't fully except the word or whatnot, and the okay one where all the lame people go.

A little background on me. I am an Atheist in the sense that I am 100% faithless and I see no reason to give the supernatural any more credence than the Tooth Fairy. I do however consider myself quite open minded in the sense that if I am presented with appropriate evidence I will immediately shift my understanding to whatever has been shown. Also, I am a very friendly and highly moral person.

Now, presuming you guys turn out to be right I figured I was going to the second tier afterlife, but a recent conversation with some missionaries has left me wondering. More to come, darn character limit.

The missionaries told me that after I die I get another chance to have the whole thing explained to me and choose whether or not to fully accept Jesus/Heavenly Father. I figure if I'm dead and I'm still having conversations that is pretty compelling evidence and I would immediately convert. Does this mean I have a shot at the good Heaven?

If so (or even if I get the second best one) I sincerely hope you guys, and not me are right. I'd much rather hang in your afterlife than rot in the ground like I figure I'm going to.

Being an ex-mormon, I think I'm in the same boat as you. If it turns out to be true (God help us all), then I believe that I will be given a chance to see the truth and change my mind at that time. It's called Spirit Prison, in Mormon terms. That's where Jesus and Joseph Smith and all the dead Mormons go to teach non believers. A so called 'afterlife mission". Usually that's where people go that die early from car crashes and stuff. They were taken because they were needed to serve god in Spirit prison and teach other dead people the truth. While I was doing time as a Mormon, I thought a lot of the same things you mention here. So You have a very compelling question.

Actually, I think the missionaries, if you really pressed them, will try to get you to convert so they can hit their monthly quota. But maybe you came across as "now is not the right time", so they tried plan B and figured they could get credit for planting the seed.

Hey LDS Mormons If God Himself doesn't know of any other gods, how could the Mormons know of millions of gods?
“ Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘ I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)

Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one. (Isaiah 44:8)

Aslo see Isaiah 45:5; 45:14; 45:21; 45:22; 46:5; 46:9; 43:10 all of these verses say there is only one God

Yet part of the mormon doctrine of God is the belief that every male mormon can become a god himself? joseph smith said, " You have got to learn to become gods yourselves the same as all gods before you." Brigham Young said, " The Lord created you and me for the purpose of becoming gods like himself. We are created to become gods like unto out father in heaven.
Whatever they wish John 10:34 to say, it does not support their position. The Mormon can only say he hopes to become a god. Psalm 82 and John 10:34 are in the present tense, a distinction apart from their position. In fact, upon a reading of Psalm 82, it is wonder that Mormons would want to identify with the psalm at all. It says nothing good about these men. But if that is the position they desire, only the judgment of God follows.
Furthermore, the Mormon should be made aware that LDS Apostle James Talmage correctly identified the “gods” of psalm 82 and john 10:34 when he wrote, “Divinely appointed judges Called ‘gods.’ In Psalm 82:6, judges invested by divine appointment are called ‘gods.’ To this Scripture the Savior referred in His reply to the Jews in Solomon’s Porch. Judges so authorized officiated as the representatives of God and are honored by the exalted title ‘god.’” (Jesus the Christ, 501).

You forgot to mention the Sons of Perdition in the Outer Darkness.

If the celestial Kingdom is anything like the temple, it'll be clean, white, quiet and ultimately boring. Small wonder 'creating spirit children' is encouraged. Hopefully someone will bring a radio.

Now, since you've talked to the missionaries, you've been "given the opportunity" to hear the gospel - if you listen to the first lesson and reject it, your chances of eternal damnation is nearly guaranteed.

If you're open minded as you say, better read up on this church before committing. The "anti" (anything contrary or true) mormon readings shed much needed light on the history of the founder, his environment and obsession with folklore, religion, and buried treasure.

Yeah. I would rather have something going after this life then nothing. But hey, if there's nothing, then it won't matter either way.

Of course, if we're right, then everything will matter, and you will get a choice. But then, if we are wrong, and another religion is right, then would it matter what we thought?

All of that is just a big mind-bender. But, if you were to die today, and get no other shot at it, I'd say probably either the telestial, or terrestrial... it's up to God, glad it's not me!!!

If your an Atheist, then you should believe that their is nothing after you die, shouldn't you, you cease to exist, at least that what I believed when I died, as an atheist. So there will be no decision for you to make because you won't have a brain to think with. But I am now a christian, so I believe that being saved is a free gift, all I had to do was admit that I was a sinner, that I needed a savior and say the sinners prayer, how hard was that?

in case you ask an 'internet' mormon, they'll inform you this is absolute nonsense, or "it hasn't been revealed". Ask a chapel mormon and you will hear that this is the main astonishing of all the eternal advantages. of course there should be a open communication right here, yet do no longer carry your breath. right here is quite some the greater imprecise qoutes from the church's guides: “We have been first begotten as spirit infants in heaven and then born of course on earth” (magazine of Discourse, Vol. 4, p. 218). Joseph Smith reported women would be ceaselessly Pregnant - women: is this your concept of stable information? "a query could be asked, ‘Will mothers have their babies in eternity?' specific! specific! mothers, you shall have your babies." (magazine of Discourses, Vol. 6, website 10). “between the spirit babies of Elohim, the 1st-born grew to become into and is Jehovah, or Jesus Christ, to whom all others are juniors” (Gospel Doctrine, p. 70). “If none yet gods would be accepted to multiply immortal babies, it follows that each God could desire to have a variety of of better halves. God, the father of our spirits, grew to become the father of our Lord Jesus Christ in accordance to the flesh” (Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 158) the father begets; the Son is begotten; they are discern and baby” (Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New testomony assertion, Vol.3, p.138) Apostle Bruce McConkie wrote, “For our recent applications, suffice it to declare that our Lord grew to become into born of a virgin, this is installation and proper, and additionally organic, because of the fact the father of the baby grew to become into an immortal Being ... he's the Son of God interior a similar experience and way that we are the sons of mortal fathers. it is basically that straightforward” (The Promised Messiah, pp. 466, 468) Heber C. Kimball, who grew to become right into a member of the 1st Presidency defined: “. . . then we will circulate lower back to our Father and God, who's related with man or woman who remains farther lower back; and this Father is declared with one nonetheless further lower back, etc . . .” (magazine of Discourses, vol. 5, p.19). Orson Pratt further explains “interior the heaven the place are spirits have been born, there are a number of Gods, each of whom has his own spouse or better halves, that have been given to him…collectively as yet in this mortal state ”(Orson Pratt, the Seer p.37). feels like the respected view of the situation of womens by utilising the church leaders grew to become into in simple terms on their backs.

I believe that you will receive the desires of your heart. Those who reject the Savior or have no spiritual development will turn away from the Celestial Kingdom on their own. They will find where they are happiest.

Here is the scriptures for your answer, it is not for us to judge you, you can read it and see for your self, and see if you fit that description.

71 And again, we saw the terrestrial world, and behold and lo, these are they who are of the terrestrial, whose glory differs from that of the church of the Firstborn who have received the fulness of the Father, even as that of the moon differs from the sun in the firmament.
72 Behold, these are they who died without law;
73 And also they who are the spirits of men kept in prison, whom the Son visited, and preached the gospel unto them, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh;
74 Who received not the testimony of Jesus in the flesh, but afterwards received it.
75 These are they who are honorable men of the earth, who were blinded by the craftiness of men.
76 These are they who receive of his glory, but not of his fulness.
77 These are they who receive of the presence of the Son, but not of the fulness of the Father.
78 Wherefore, they are bodies terrestrial, and not bodies celestial, and differ in glory as the moon differs from the sun.
79 These are they who are not valiant in the testimony of Jesus; wherefore, they obtain not the crown over the kingdom of our God.
